Lunch or Dinner in Abilene

I have to go to Abilene for work and would like to know where would be a good local place to eat lunch and possibly dinner either in town or in between it and Austin ?

I've heard Harold's is the place to go, but I don't know if I'll make it to town by 2:30...and other suggestions ?

I've always heard that Joe Allen's makes a mean mesquite-fired steak, but I've never been there.

I lived there for two years. When I go back, Joe Allen's is the place I'll go. It's not the nicest, but it's the best. Order the 1 1/4 inch ribeye, medium. You'll thank me.

There are some dececnt places to eat steak in Abilene.

I had two separate people in the last month recommend Perini Ranch, which is odd, because how often does food in Abilene come up in conversation with a guy who's not from there?

I hear it's excellent and if I ever find myself in Abilene I'll try it.

Joe Allen's, hands down. Best damn steak in west Texas. The BBQ sucks though.

I wish I could figure out the seasoning they put on their steaks. Very tasty!

I made in time to go to Harold's and it was awesome. I'll have to try the other place next time.
