he's a project in terms of weight, but could be a good one. the concern is we now have 3 guys on board, almost certainly have 2 slots more, with westerman, hegarty, and flowers still out there (the 3 gems).
even though this kid has a lot to prove with his weight, i like his upside more than the other 2 we got today. he can be elite if he is conditioned right with mad dog.
Whats wrong with his weight? Listed at 250. He's probably been playing basketball. He could easily be 275 when he shows up, and 300 after a redshirt year.
ghoward.. what's wrong with his weight? well.. let's see.. he was down to 235 playing basketball not too long ago. that's whats caused his stock to drop (he was top 5 in the initial lsr 2011). sounds like he's focusing on football this year and will try to put on good weight. imo, he'll be a solid 4 star by the end of next season, and hopefully around 260.
Colt,
would you feel better if he gained 11 pounds (from 254 to 265)? Just wondering, because Hegarty weighs 265 and is taller. Would seem Hutchins stands a better chance to add quality weight on a 6'3" frame versus the 6'5" Hegarty is listed at. On a side note, I understand Hutchins is working diligently to put on quality weight through a regimented program. I don't see the weight attainment as an issue. apparently the coaching staff is pretty satisfied.
i'm not saying he can't do it. of course he can, and again, i'm on the side that he will probably end up a great player for us. as far as frame, i have no idea what his height is. some sites have 6'5.. some 6'2, some 6'3.
