Low voter turnout in MN, MO, CO

I am perplexed (more so than usual). You would think that GOP voters would be turning out in huge numbers to cast a ballot (or caucus) for their choice for a nominee to run against a president that they really positively cannot stand. In reply to:

The "Best and the Brightest" people in our country just won't run for POTUS. I really cannot blame them but it is hard to get really excited about this field. That said, there will be plenty of excitement in November to get rid of Barry. Kind of sad but all of the energy on both sides of this election will be negative energy. I'm happy for Santorum doing well last night though as there is no reason to coronate Mitt just yet.

Not really - I can only speak for myself, but I'm tired of the primary. I'm worn out by the constant self-bashing and name-calling that always goes with a primary. We've heard debate after debate, and every one of them is used as a platform not for discussion of trhe issues, but to prove that (insert candidate here) is "insane", "unbalanced", "unfit for office".

The fact is that the conservative voters who aren't turning up in the primaries will turn up in the general election.

Really Santorums biggest positive is a relatively small amount of negatives. As I've said, this election will be very negative and that is sad, but then again it will be a referendum on a president who is very negative himself. So it is appropriate I suppose.

I'm sure Michtex is right (for once). What a lovely process we have.

I think there are people that just can't decide. If the primary was here in Texas right now, I'm not sure who I would vote for. I'm wondering if I would go to place a vote. I just take the attitude that it will work out and I will be there to vote for the GOP winner to get rid of our worst President ever.

Santorum's appeal is that he is a conservative who doesn't carry the sleaze element that Gingrich has. Does he have "negatives?" I'm sure he does. Some of the weird issues with his wife and the dead child could be construed as negative. He also comes across as a bit of a weanie. However, his liabilities don't match Romney's and are a tiny fraction of Gingrich's.

As for the lack of decided delegates, I don't think that's much of an issue, because delegate counts just aren't that critical right now. If they were, then candidates would be blowing off these tiny states that have very few delegates and would be focusing on Texas, California, and New York. The only reason they don't do that is that momentum (and therefore money) is what counts right now.

By winning these states, Santorum gained momentum and the ability to raise the money he needs to stay competitive. That's why last night was a big win for him, even though he didn't gain any committed delegates.

Slow news day, people are making way too much of the low turnout. R talking heads on TV need to shut the F up and quit feeding the network and MSM trolls. I'm talking to you Karl Rove.

Jeebus....no one, and I mean no one will remember MO, MN and CO primaries come September when the campaign begins in earnest. It will be Romney-Rubio and Obama-Biden will have their hands full with each other.

Voter turnout is a problem when the elections actually mean something. Frankly, I am surprised as many people voted as did. I can't imagine myself voting in a primary that awarded no delegates. Non issue. Forgotten completely by Saturday.

I also think another reason for low voter turn out is we have more independents than ever before. GWB and his adminstration has turned the GOP off and we are seeing it reflect in lower GOP turnout.

But the Dems were very fired up for the hope and change thing and after this disaster of a President the Dems will lose their share to independent status as well. We've already seen some signs of how disappointed some states are with the Dems by how they voted. So although it's still far off, we are inching closing and closer to a 3rd party or a President that is not a GOP or Dem. But there is no doubt that Obama has put us in a position that will take decades to get over. If he is re-elected which I just don't see due to him having nothing to run on, he will have our debt over $20 Trillion.
