Love for Army and BC

Inspirational performances by both squads. They have much to be proud of. Here's a few:

Boston College:

-- Played 3 heartstopping 1 run games.

-- Held Texas scoreless for 22 straight innings.

-- Longest college baseball game in history.

Army:

-- Tough and resilient, respectful and polite.

-- Eliminated the 3rd and 2nd seeded teams, and gave the No. 1 seed fits.

-- Best team spirit I've ever seen (maybe that's to be expected from the USMA).

Both of these teams have tons to be proud of. They represent the best qualities of college baseball. Note to Augie, please try to put Army and BC on the nonconf schedule next year.

My only complaint--and this is directed at the first-base umpire from the early game--is that B.C. was cheated of a tying run in the top of the 9th. Instead of knotting things up at 4 apiece on a fielder's choice, the ump awards the double play despite the batter (Wiswall) CLEARLY reaching first in time. I mean, he was PAST THE BAG when the ball arrived, yet blue ruled him out. Unbelievable.

Maybe Army would've won, anyway, but the Eagles, the sport and the fans were cheated by an inept ump. Again, it wasn't a bang-bang call; Wiswall was CLEARLY safe. Inexcusable.

Both Teams were amazing and you better bet you'll see at least one of them here next season.

I sure hope it's BC. Those guys were outstanding and I was really looking forward to playing them once more. Love Army too but let's get BC back down here.
