Louisiana @ Texas 11/11/2022

Andrea Lloyd and Alex Loeb are previewing the game on LHN currently and they haven’t mentioned Rori not playing. Must not be very serious.

Somebody needs to tell the guy in the orange hoodie on the opposite side of the bench he ain’t coaching. He’s talking and standing more than Vic. Lol

This game is a good reminder why we really need Kendall to get off the fence and come help her team. Its mid-November, and I'm sure she's still on scholarship. We clearly need another guard, especially one who can score.

I'm not expecting anything out of Kyndal at this point, even if she does comeback. At least not right away. Conditioning and others things come into play when you're talking about a player that's missed so much time. They have to improve and worry about the players who are present and currently with the team today.

Good things:
1. Jones
2. Mwenentanda
3. Muhammad
4. Nothing else
Ughhhhhh... a win is better than a loss but that's about all I can say.

25 turnovers is what happens with no point guard and a lot of newcomers. Ugly no matter how much lipstick you put on that pig. The sun comes up tomorrow. Harmon eventually comes back. Newbies get experience. But I’d hate to be in that locker room and at next practice.

Ummm yea the bad we out of proportion we have hella depth at W, F, & C but none at Guard and particularly PG. Turnovers were abysmal. I do wanna give some credit to ULL they are a ok team and made it extremely hard on us. The good of T Jones can produce like this then whew the big12 is on notice. Muhammad is going to be good and a future WNBA player. She is long and has nose for the ball and if she can hone that in she could sneak into the big12 foy convo she played most of the game tonight even tho I know it’s early. I was higher on her than Jak because I seen her at Desoto and they don’t win the like they without her she was the engine of the car at desoto. Overall yes a win is a win but idk if we win or even don’t get blown out on Monday if we don’t bring it better.

You think Vic noticed this?

That's three games now where the three point shooting hasn't been very good. The main issue that I was worried about from the beginning, especially without Matharu is showing early even with Rori. If they can't shoot the ball better, teams are going to continue to play zone. As I've said before, being able to shoot the ball consistently from the perimeter is the most important thing for any team offensively.

Jones is a much improved center over last year. I am impressed with Jack as she has best shooting mechanics on team and handles better…..even though she had 5 turnovers. She’ll be better with a little experience and against players more like her. Muhammad will help but is no threat as a shooter right now. Holle did have 5 steals but got rattled with quickness. Surprised at everyone else. Gaston and Moore were non-factors. What happened to Faye? 1-11 from three point line. Lots to improve on. I think we’ll match up better with UCONN with more size and less quickness. It could get ugly Monday if Harmon is out.

Tough game to watch. I’m glad they started rebounding better in the 2nd half after being out rebounded in the 1st. It’s like they never worked on breaking a press without Rori. Vic was drawing up plays for Shaylee while they were shooting free throws.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen A-Mo have that bad a game. Gaston was not herself. Shay made some errors you don’t usually see from her. Sonya seem to be having a lower back problem late in the game. Can’t do without her Monday.
Brightest spot was seeing Taylor play so well for me. And the freshmen did well for freshmen.
Loved Moody and the energy. I can only imagine what it could be like in a good game. The student sections were very good and well attended. The plain ol hot dog was good. If you sit in section 107 good luck finding a sign for that anywhere. Security personnel couldn’t even tell me where outside the portal nor the one inside the arena. Kinda comical except I was in a bad mood because it took me 5 hours to drive from Dallas because of heavy rains all the way, heavy traffic and a bad 18 wheeler wreck that shut all but one southbound lane down on 35. And to top it off, seeing Rori in a boot I have no words and my first thought was UCONN. I usually watch the broadcast of the games that I attend in person afterwards not sure that’ll happen this time.

The newcomers saved us tonight--especially Taylor Jones. I was also impressed with Jak. Gaston got hit in the face hard early in the game. AMo couldn't buy a basket early and got hit with fouls. A lot of playing time for Muhammad and Jak. Ugly, but a win. And yes, I'm in section 107 and if it has a sign I didn't see it.

It’s Rory’s TOE!. I would rather it be ankle or foot sprain. If your toe hurts, it REALLY effects what you do. And compensating for it can lead to other leg issues.

Agreed. And if she's out on Monday or any significant time then it's obviously going to be a problem. If she can't go on Monday, it'll be a blow out.

Whew that was hard to watch because Vic has had us spoiled in certain aspects for a really long time. 25 TO’s is just not something I ever thought I’d see, irregardless of starters being out. There were some bright spots with Taylor and Jak and just our over all team poise when UL cut it to 8 with 5 min to go.

All that being said, if Rori is out for an extended period you can expect us to take some BIG lumps in the next two weeks. Geno has no love lost for Vic and Uconn doesn’t have to much depth either so their starters will likely play big minutes even if the game gets out of hand. That Bahamas trip becomes a nightmare too because every team there can beat the group we rolled out tonight.

As a coach though, there’s a silver lining in this and that’s if we take our lumps now, get some kids comfortable playing in uncomfortable positions then it will only help us when B12 play gets here and we’ll be better for it!

The game was bizzaro to watch, and every pass-to-no-one, I kept thinking "so this is what not having Rori gives you".

I was super disappointed the way the team responded when being pressed late in the game. For a team that dishes this type of pressure on a regular basis the fact they couldn't handle getting out of the press was shocking. Don't they practice on each other?!

Taylor was a revelation though. First post I've seen in a long time where I'm excited to see her next opportunity on the floor.

Well, a chance for Vic to "coach 'em hard". I just wish it wasn't three days before UConn.

WOW that was sloppy. Kinda expected it when I saw Rori wasn't playing, but never expected it to be that bad. In the 4th Qtr Vic just threw his arms up with a damn, no matter what I say/do they won't listen.

The one positive is Jones makes Gaston look like a sun belt player. And the FT's were pretty good.

And I’ve said the same thing. Losing Matharu was a big loss for us. I had thought Hunter would assume that role, BUT….. Rori started taking more 3s at the end of last year and was hitting them which would help. Morris is more of a mid range shooter and Gonzales seems lost at the moment. We look slow and methodical and just confused. Even with Rori playing, it was going to be a tough task to beat a highly skilled UCONN team on their home floor. As good as Taylor Jones is, not having outside threats makes it much harder on her…. We shall see!!!
