Louie's 106

good, but not great. it is not in my top 10 of austin restaurants. you will not have a bad meal there, but it will not really impress you that much.

It's pretty nice. It's very crowded. (They cram a lot of tables into a small space.) It can get loud.

It's good. I'd say it's a bit better than the middle tier Austin restaurants, which is to say it's better than places like Gumbo's, Chez Zee, and Carmelo's. I like it more than I like most of the 4th Street restaurants (Sullivan's, etc.)

The standout item on their menu is the gazpacho. It's one of the 2-3 best I've ever had.

The rest of their menu is good, sometimes very good, and occasionally mediocre. It's a good enough middle-tier restaurant.

It's much more expensive than it used to be but the quality hasn't increased at all. The atmosphere is very good, I will give it that. It used to be worth going to, but I'm not sure I will ever go back, there are much better restaurants for the price.

Yeah I have been to Eddie V's and Roy's. I have never loved Eddie V's but am aware I'm in the minority here and won't argue with anyone that thinks it's allsome. Roy's was good but not my favorite.

Well, if you don't like Eddie V's and Roy's isn't your favorite, I have to ask-- what equivalent restaurants DO you like?
