This is going to make for a quick off-season until TX football starts.

We've got the US v. England, Spain, Argentina and Barbados all within the next 30 days.
Euro 2008 - though it will suck without England - to me anyways.
Olympics in August.

And, something called the Toulon or Toulouse Tourney in France starting next week. I just found out about it today. FSC is showing all games. It's some sort of youth (U-20, U-23?) tourney.

Don't forget the Copa Libertadores!!!San Lorenzo came back from a 2-0 deficit with 9 men to tie River Plate @ River Plate Stadium to advance on a 4-3 aggregate (with a 2 to 1 road goal advantage that would have required River to score 2 more goals in the last 15 minutes).

Now Boca & San Lorenzo are in the final 8 along with Sao Paulo (with Adriano) and Santos & Flamengo among others.

Not ALL soccer is played North of the equator.

I don't know much about soccer in South America save for the fact that the fans are nuts. I love watching the Argentinian games for the fans. It's also funny to see riot police protect the corner kick taker in Columbia and Central America.

Flamengo is not in the quarters, they were unceremoniously bounced from the tournament after losing 3-0 at home in the Maracaná to Club America after beating them 4-2 at the Azteca (agg. 4-5). The funny thing is that America ended up in dead last in the most recent Mexican Tourney, which included their longest losing streak in their 90 year history. America are the 15 seed in the Libertadores. It was a Mexican club's best ever showing in a Brazilian stadium, and the biggest win for a Mexican side in the Libertadores since CD Guadalajara put a 4-0 beat down on Boca in '05.

Capello announces England squad for U.S./T&T friendlies. The game is a week after the CL final. I'll be curious to see if it affects how much Rooney, Terry, Lampard et al play...

Well, that sucked. Crowd was cool, though. God, how I wish we could get a crowd like that for a U.S. game. Closest I've seen was in Columbus the last 2 times we played Mexico in qualification.

Napoleon,

Considering how poorly Boca fares in Mexico, particularly in Guadalajara , what is the mood of the xenieses after last night?
