Lots of Love for Obama - from the Military

I've read some rumblings here that Obama has been losing support among the people. I don't think anyone can honestly say that after watching this video of the Prez at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia:

The Prez a rockstar with Military

I believe begining with the somali pirates, getting bin laden and then al awlaki have shown the military that in Obama, they have one of the best C-in-C's that we have had in a long time.

Just as I dont give Obama all the credit for getting Osama and Awlaki, I dont give him all the credit for the economic bust. He has a lot of advisors that tell him things. Its more an indictment of his cabinet than him personally I think. He didnt gather any intelligence. He only gave go aheads. Likewise, he didnt tank the economy, it was already headed that way. He only gave the go ahead to tank it further.

First of all, Obama is Commander in Chief of all U.S. armed forces, so every soldier (airman, sailor, marine) has to, and does, respect him as such.

Secondly, however, I think Obama and especially his wife Michelle have done a lot to show support for the troops and their families. I think it's fair to say that the Obamas identify very well with the common soldier and the economic/social background that most of them come from. I also think most of those who are critical of the President's handling of the military are those who disagree with his desire to rapidly close out the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which is a different issue than supporting our troops.

The people in the military may love Obama, but once they get home and find themselves without a job, I'm thinking that love for Obama goes right out the door.

Their is respect and then there is like.

Military respects Obama, that does not mean they like him.

If Obama feels that good about the military why doesn't he make it easier for them to vote?

I have to admit that Obama is good at being a rockstar.

This is probably the reason he is constantly in campaign mode and he cannot bring himself to actually governing.

Troops taking pictures of president on campaign trip in front if supporters=Obama loved by military. Id like to see the reaction of troops in afghanistan

If our military volunteers don't like their boss then they can quit their job.

When their commitments end, of course.

Why would we assign any special, or greater import, to the feelings of our volunteer warrior class? What makes their viewpoint more legitimate, or more relevant, than others?

The volunteers who inhabit our military will undoubtedly support programs, ventures, and projects which funnel resources to them. Fact is, we need to reduce our military in all areas except possibly UAV research.

Obama received a rousing welcome

All presidencies are produced pr opportunities. this current administration more than any in history. regardless, do you think the presidents people (the millitary), would allow him to be in front of a crowd that boos him, much less in fron of his millitary? why dont you stick to poll numbers and stop watching the presidential movie going on.

The military does not "love Obama".
The military respects the rank, does NOT love the man.

Perhaps one should spend some time with the combat troops and get a feel for the how much they "love Obama" .

I know Ron Paul gets more financial support and donations from the military than any other republican candidate. How does he fair against Obama?

I have no doubt that a lot of the active military loved Obama when he said he would get them the hell out of needless wars. That's why they love Paul I'm certain.

I am in the Air Force active duty and I find this thread amusing. I don't speak for the entire military but the premise of the OP is way off.

First, when we are gathered for high profile visitors it is a voluntold type of gathering. I would bet my next paycheck that if we had an option of whether to attend or not attend--most would not attend.

Second, if the POTUS visits wouldn't it make sense that the crowd would cheer, like someone said earlier no one would boo. Booing would not occur because we would soon be in a ton of trouble. Respect the position not necessarilly the person in the position.

Finally, I voted for BO and I am not happy that I did.

I am not happy with any politician right now. I think it is a waste of time to vote, to be totally honest. No matter what party the candidate is with they all act the same; all talk and no walk.

I thought BO would make some serious changes for the better of Americans and I haven't seen that done. When this whole economy thing happened I was hoping that he would take the lead on making the tough choice and he didn't.

Don't mistake my dislike for BO as anything other than dislike for the whole political atmosphere right now.

Roger, you are hilarious. Do you have some little Obama pom poms? You do recall that Obama controlled the White House and the entire congress for two years, right? There was virtually nothing the Republicans could do other than shouting that would slowdown Obama's agenda. Then again, perhaps we should give BHO credit for creating the Tea Party. Without his socialist agenda, I'm sure they would have lacked the energy to get off the ground.
