LOST

Back tomorrow, I can't freaking wait.

Watched last year's season finale again last night. I really hope this damn writer's strike ends soon to hopefully salvage the 2nd half of this season.

Two hour season premiere tomorrow night!

I would suggest watching the last 3 episodes from season 3 to get in the mood

Actually, I think tomorrow's premier is, technically, only one hour of new programming. The first hour is a catchup look back episode. According to their website ...

"Through the Looking Glass
Wed Jan 30 9/8c
Special enhanced episode with on-screen facts and back story. Jack and his fellow castaways begin their efforts to make contact with Naomi's rescue ship."

Translation: Last season's finale with a few extras

"Lost: Past, Present & Future
Thu Jan 31 8/7c
This episode explores the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date -- but which current viewers will also find illuminating - in anticipation of the fourth season premiere episode. The special will take an in-depth look at the mysteries of both the island and its inhabitants and recap the secrets that have been revealed, as well as those that remain unanswered."

Translation: A catchup episode for new viewers. Still worth watching if you need a fix, but catchup episode nonetheless.

"The Beginning of the End
Thu Jan 31 9/8c
Feeling that their rescue is close at hand, the survivors don't know whether to believe Charlie's final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets..."

Translation: Finally, the actual Season 4 premier, an actual hour of new programming. At long last!

Only a 1 hour premier? That's gay, I thought it was gonna be 2 full hours, which we deserve after our 9 months of Lost celibacy.

My prediction for the new season is this...some new people from the boat make their way onto the island, and they turn out to be far worse than The Others ever were. I'm guessing these people have been looking for the island for quite some time, and this is why Ben is so determined to protect the island and keep it a secret. Once the new bad guys start coming on shore, the Losties and the remaining Others are forced to join sides and fight for their survival. Just a hunch...

I've been waiting for the new season for what seems like forever. I hope the writers' strike doesn't force ABC to end the season prematurely.

That was good stuff tonight - enjoyed the closed captioned editorial comments. Forgot how compelling and intriguing that last episode was - great tv moments. Can't wait for this season.

agreed. I liked how the pop-ups had a sense of humor about what was happening on screen. It was a little distracting at first, 'cause I wanted to get back into the show and characters. But after a while, I was able to watch the show and follow the commentary separately.
Yeah. I'm pumped about this season. Anyone know if they taped all their episodes before the strike started? I know Lost was one of the only shows that had a good contract with the writers log before the strike started. They've been paying their writers for scenes aired on the website and available on cell phones for quite a while now.
The Writers union and SAG have even referenced the Lost contract as a sort of model for what they are trying to accomplish...

I've heard we have 8 episodes for this season already finished. hopefully enough time to finish the strike and get back to filming.

I've heard episodes 4 and 8 are also incredible. Now that the show has an end date, I really think the "filler" episodes are a thing of the past.

Only 8 of the 16 are done. Not sure when the "point of no return" as far as there not being time to produce more episodes but unfortunately I have to imagine it's fast approaching, if we haven't already passed it yet.

"We have to go back!"

anyone?? any thoughts??

oceanic 6!!?? So Hurley..Jack..Kate..The person from the funeral who was neither friend nor family of jack according to him?? WTF..what a weird episode..Im pretty damn confused..the only thing I know for sure is that the time frame was before jack went off the deep end and after they got off the island. Damn..how crazy..

Any thoughts on who the black guy was talkin to hurley about if "they" are alive still? Alright..start discussing dammit!

OK, so I think that the guy who talked to Hurley (Daniels from the Wire) is with the same group as the ship. They are supposed to find everyone on the island and get them off (or something like that). The Oceanic 6 (whoever they are) gave themselves up and claimed they were the only survivors, I'm guessing to keep the people on the ship from taking everyone. I'm pretty confident about that stuff, but who knows.

I think Creed's theory is a pretty good one re: the Oceanic 6. I definitely agree that the flash-forward is before Jack's flash-forward.

So Jack has shaved his bead, appears to be weaning himself of the drink, and says he is not going back? Probably a flash forward to the period before he is full throttle trying to get back on the island.

Just saw the Oceanic ad, it was a bit creepy but very cool hopefully it'll be up somewhere on the web to check it out again. Good thing we DVRed this show

PRH, I did the same thing. DVR'ed the show, skipped George Michael, and only watched that commercial. That's probably not how they wanted it to work out.

I'll watch the commercial again tomorrow. As for this other show target audience has to be the female viewers of LOST and it's okay, tolerable.

Commercial was a "Win a Golden Ticket" contest with spliced in shots of a dude and one with him saying "Don't trust them. We found flight 815."

Excellent way to start the season. Loved it!

This show has been a mind-**** from the first episode...

that's why I love it.

I mean I would love to comment but there's so much to say so I won't go into it...

what's the deal with that cabin? man this show is crazy

I liked the premier. Nothing too flashy or thought provoking, but it should be a good lead-in to next week's episode when hopefully we will find out some more about the people from the ship. (we need a nickname for them)

Did anyone think it was weird that when the groups split ways, Jack and Kate were the only 2 that stayed behind? I would think Juliet would be inclined to stay, plus Rose made mention that she wasn't going anywhere with Locke. There was an overhead camera angle that showed 2 sides roughly even, but then it ended up being just Jack/Kate standing in the rain. I also thought the footage of the plane was pretty badass.

As for the Oceanic 6, I would put money on Sawyer being one of them. In the finale of last season, Kate referenced another man that she had to get back to, and there's a good chance this could be Sawyer. Plus, he would be most easily swayed to join the Jack/Kate combo. The rest is a crapshoot for me though. Desmond? Sayid? Claire?

I stand behind what I said after last year's finale - that end shot of Jack and Kate is the last scene we'll ever see in this series, and from now until series in, we'll be filling in the gap.

I wonder if Desmond will still have future flashes, or if they were only in relation to Charlie's passing.

My wife said that Charlie crosses himself as he's drowning, but I didn't see it. It would make sense with his character journey. Anyone else see that?
