Lost Only Key to my Truck ...

I have a truck I drive every now again ... lost the only key I had for it. Can a Ford dealership make me a new one if I can produce the title and VIN number?

I knew not making a copy was going to blow up in my face. Lesson learned.

How it got the glove compartment of my wife's car is still a mystery.

Have another key made now.
If it is a security key with a chip inside it, it will be expensive, and maybe only the dealer can make it, but go ahead and get one, because it will be more expensive if you lose the only key.
If it is a regular key, the dealers usually can make it from the VIN#, and it will fit better than making a duplicate of your existing key, and may not be very expensive.

Funny, but I have an F-150 with only one key myself. About 5 years ago, I checked at the dealership for a second key and since it had the security thing on it, they wanted $75. I still have only one key. It's probably $100 now.

But if you lose it, they have to match the computer somehow, and there are even some models where you have to replace the computer and the key together-very costly.
