Looking to go on a Diving trip this summer

Thinking about doing an all inclusive trip to Cozumel, Mexico. Possibly go to somewhere in Florida.

Anyone have any suggestions? Just looking to spend around $1K-$1.5K per person for a 4-5 day trip, so I'm not looking to make a trip to Fiji or Australia.

If you are truly adventurous, you should look into Roatan.

Best diving spot I've ever been to, which includes Belize and Cozumel.

You might consider the pacific as well. Roatan is probably the best in the Caribbean. I've heard great things about the Eastern Pacific - a lot more variations in coral and types of fish.

Haven't been to Roatan, but I did go to Utila, which is another of the Bay Islands (the closest of the three to Honduras). The diving was unbelievable and everything was incredibly cheap. We paid $164 for PADI open-water certification, including two dives. That's pretty hard to beat.

Utila is definitely a backpacker hot-spot, whereas Roatan is supposed to be a little more upscale. Utila is still nice - you can certainly find plush accommodations and you won't be out of place if you're not a skinny-from-months-of-rice & beans backpacker, but it's certainly one of the spots on the Gringo Trail that many travelers hit up.

We had an absolute blast at Cross Creek Diving Center. The diving is incredible (we saw two whale sharks) and the nightlife is pretty good too. If you go to Utila, make sure you check out the restaurant at Cross Creek. When we were there (3 years ago almost to the day) a guy named Dave was the head cook, and he made the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten in my life. The food was cheap and ridiculously good.

Ok, after poking around at the above link, I've found a few pages:

Cabanas for $48 (US) a night

The cabanas were great - very cozy and with AC (you will need it - it's hot as balls there).

The Cross Creek facilities were top-notch, good equipment, great instructors, and very inexpensive. I believe you can get flights to Utila/Roatan pretty easily.
