Does anyone know if the NCAA holds tickets for fans of the teams actually playing in the Final Four?? I KNOW it's early, but, just wondered how that works.
well, there is a lottery you sign up for during 2009's Final 4, but many people have told me there are plenty of seats available at the venue, since many people purchase in advance and their teams don't get there....I am more concerned about getting a good deal on the flight...
Each team receives an allotment of tickets for the final four. Texas is not very good about making these tickets available to the public. There were no final four tickets available to Texas fans for the Volleyball final four in Omaha. I saw coaches from other programs there in Texas seats, parents, friends, etc.
You can usually find tix on StubHub, or Ticketmaster, but both will rip you off with fees, surcharges, etc. Often you can find tix at face value on the internet from fans whose teams didn't make it.
For the final four in Atlanta where Texas women last played, the Longhorn foundation made the ticket allotment availvable to Longhorn foundation members first, and then to the general public when they were not all spoken for. Those seats are great, right on the floor. I've participated in the lottery for tickets twice and gotten terrible seats both times (would have done MUCH better to just watch on TV to see the games, although the experience is so great!
I've been to the last 10 Women's Final Fours, with tickets won through the lottery. As basketsofhorns stated, the seat were TERIBLE, way up in the nose bleed section, but the experience was GREAT! (Although for Atlanta we did upgrade through UT and scalped our seats.) There are always scalpers working the games, usually with plenty of tickets available.
i will probably wait, instead of going into the lottery for tickets. i've never bought from a scalper before...i wouldn't want to drive all the way out there without a ticket in hand. try checking craigslist, though...i use that a lot to buy last minute tickets for games or concerts.
I've entered the lottery several times and I've gotten tickets each time, so your chances are good if you enter by the deadline. You can bet that I will be sending in my application for 2012 when the Final Four comes to Denver. I am hoping that this will be a championship year for Texas.
If Texas gets to the Final Four that year I will be offering free room and board on a first come, first serve basis.
Isn't the venue for the volleyball final four much smaller than that of the women's basketball final four? I know it looked smaller on the TV, but I'm aware that looks can be deceiving.
