10 of Stanford's medals come from the soccer team, water polo team and a men's doubles tennis team.

Having 5 ladies on the winning water polo team really helps pad the stats.

How did the aggies fare? They sent 23 athletes, but I don't recall hearing about any of them, probably because only five competed for the US.

Oh, its a testament that 5 girls were all on the same team for sure, but its not quite the same accomplishment to me because its a team medal, not an individual one. Certainly, 2 of our medals were by Ricky and Jimmy swimming in a qualifying heat, so the same could be said about that yes.

Stanford just has a much higher percentage of medals due to the fact that they had several athletes on a single team that won a medal.

Per Texassports.com, Texas athletes accounted for a total of 13 medals, including six gold. If they were competing as a separate country, Texas would have ranked in a tie for 13th place among all nations in the number of gold medals earned and tied for 18th in the number of total medals won.

Most impressive for the Horns is that their 13 medals came in 5 different sports, or 7 if you separate men's and women's T&F and swimming discciplines. 7 of the 13 came in individual (4), duo (1) or team (2) events. The remaining 6 were relays. IMO that is a little more impressive than some schools that might have four or five athletes on a single team or squad. And of course, team/relay medals only count once in the official tally, even though all squad members receive a medal. For example, (just guessing here) there could be some Ivy League school/s that have multiple rowers on a single boat, or in a couple of events, and who subsequently rack up a lot of medals that way.

Great showing by the Horns!
