Wish I could say the same.

No LHN in Austin where I live.

Thought I would be able to switch to Grande but they are not an option in NW Austin.

I don't understand their coverage. It has always seemed strange. We are in NW Austin and have had Grande for years. Maybe with both LHN and NFL they will start to expand.

I'm kinda on the edge of central and NW austin. Get TWC but that's really the only option.

Classic Seattle response. I used to be annoyed by the constant negativity, but now its actually turned into a rather unique form of entertainment. This year is so full of promise yet all SOME can focus on is the past....I will say this again, and most coaches that I speak to will agree GG is one of the best coaches in the game. And she has performed excatly as she should have based on the SITUATION. Just because we are Texas doesnt make us good by default. Just ask Mack Brown. No coach in the nation could've come in and done a better job than Gail based on the talent she had at her disposal and the state of the program

That's a matter of opinion. I seriously doubt you talked to "most coaches."

How much is Goestenkors paying you for her waning support?

Let's wait till the end of next season and see you support this overrated and former elite coach. She has tarnished the Texas program and quite frankly the lack of support on here is a testament to the shambles and state of the Texas program.

I don't need or want your support either....

That is quite an interesting response. I actually just left our annual THSGCA (Texas High School Girls Coaches Association) meeting, and a topic of discussion was college coaches and recruiting and its effect on the high school game. Gails name came up more than once and she was spoken of in nothing but the highest regards for the way she recruits and her effort to reach out and build relationships with coaches beyond the players shes recruiting. Me being the avid fan that I am I asked for honest input on her and the state of the program and everyone who weighed in spoke about how they've seen improvement in the program beyond the W-L record. Seattle you would be hard pressed to find someone with an extensive coaching background and substantial knowledge of the game who would agree with your point of view. Not saying that your wrong, or not entitled to your opinion. Just simply stating that most people who do that job for a living and have achieved a measureable level of success would say that the program is in a much better place than it was upon her arrival.

Wins and losses matter. You cannot deny that longevity will not come if you continue 8-8 conference records year in and year out. Or how about 2-13 against Top 25 programs.

Of course no one is going to be frank in their comments in a conference.

She may be a "nice" and "smart" person/coach, but that doesn't mean she's tenured as UT's coach forever. Texas will be a laughing stock in WBB for continuing to shell out at least a million dollars for the product we are getting.

And let's not get into that recent Europe trip where having fun as tourists seemed to be in order vs preparing for next season. When a team cancels on you and you continue to stay abroad instead of returning back to Austin, that is ludicrous! The "victories" weren't exactly blowouts either.

It's fortunate for Goestenkors that A&M is moving on to spare her 0-11 record against the Aggies.

Now that Grande has a deal with LHN, I'm hopeful the other local cable channels will follow farily quickly.

On the subject of the team and Gail, I'm optimistic about this year, but the why etc seems like more a topic for another thread.

seattle's favorite sport, Gail bashing, encompasses all threads. Can't get his facts straight, his memory is failing so he likes to repeat one thing over and over, and resorts to insults when he can't think anything else.

Like someone else mentioned, by now, it's amusing to read his one thought comments. He doesn't have me rolling in the aisles, but he is certainly good for a belly laugh or two.

Yeah, we would all be shocked if Seattle actually posted something that had to do with the topic at hand. But I agree, it's become so routine, it's now a running joke. A thread congratulating players for academic success...let's go after GG...a post about uniforms, well now there's a good reason to attack the coach. It's actually turned into somewhat of a positive because the more he posts, the better everyone else (GG most of all) looks.

A running joke is Goestenkors. Case Closed.

8-8 average conference record. I made your Goestenkors look good considering her pathetic 7-9 record including a loss to rookie Missouri Coach Robin Pington.

I discuss topics at hand which is Texas WBB. Your jealousy is a bit sad and I wish you would step back and reflect your actions. The LHN will show the nation and other Longhorns the ordinary program that is in the shadow of Baylor, Oklahoma and A&M.

Why do you keep defending your Coach? You all insist she was the best and yet, she produces seasons that any competent Coach can minimally achieve?

And no, I was never a coach, but I am in management and know what it takes to build champions. Apparently, your Coach Goestenkors fails to bring that to Texas. Your continual insistance on the "circumstances" are nothing but flat excuses.

Glad I made you unable to respond overseas. You're as good as moldy bread, and I mean that in a sincerest way. Happy Labor Day btw.

I don't respond to every "single" thread. Go back to the list of topics and you will see I don't respond everytime.

I'd be happy to point them out to you in case your UT education faded like old age.

Some people's kids...

Wow Seattle. You seem to be such a bitter person...

It's almost like you think the entire reason that Texas is where they're at now is because of Coach G. That certainly isn't the case.

I'm angry at the state of Texas' WBB. If more fans gave a da*n about this program instead of sitting back, trusting, and letting this "heralded" and "elite" Coach "lead", we'd be relevant and talking Championships instead of petty things like we've been talking about.

You couldn't be so wrong about me being "hateful". Bitter, that's a different story.

Texas deserves better and you ALL know it.

Were you upset with Jody? You need to take a look at her conference records and success in the NCAA tourneys once UT joined the Big XII. I don't mean to take anything away from the team that went to the Final Four, but if Jamie Carey hadn't fell into our laps, I don't think that team would not have had that kind of success (although this group of young ladies were one of my favorite teams to watch). I'm not a Jody basher; she did wonderful things for WBB. Jody was an incredible representative for UT during her tenure.

Wow. Sorry for starting all this guys. I just had a happy moment and wanted to share. I should have known it would bring out Scrooge. Talk about someone who can’t let go of Christmas Past……

I actually saw JC again on a Longhorns Legends show. It was a countdown of the 10 greatest athletes in UT history. She had comments on almost all of them, and those who were listed as being just outside the top 10…….Before you ask, I think this was the list…..

Earl Campbell
Bobby Layne
Ricky Williams
Vince Young
Ben Crenshaw
Kevin Durant
Tommy Nobis
Cat Osterman
Slater Martin
TJ Ford

…….The only WBB player mentioned was Clarissa. Hard to argue with those on that list. I’m a little surprised that Colt McCoy didn’t make the list and wasn’t listed in those close to the top 10….a group that must have included another 20 individuals. I understand, but I was really hoping that Edwina Brown, Kamie Ethridge, and/or Andrea Lloyd-Curry would get a mention. Other female athletes that I remember hearing discussed included Carlette Guidry, Jill Sterkel, and Sanya Richards-Ross.

Looks like that list ought to be called the 9 best male athletes, plus one token female, in UT history. I guess it all depends on your perspective, so I don't suppose five football players on the list should come as any surprise. Interesting that no baseball players made the list, and no swimmers, given how much success those two programs have had over the years. No question my top 10 list would be at least half women and those in the mix would be Cat, Clarissa, Carlette, Kamie, Sanya, and Michiko Hattori.
