Longhorn Assistant Coaches

Just because I've heard the comments by some on the board that we aren't recruiting like we should I looked at the bios of the assistants (which IMO are the key to recruiting).

Mickie Demoss, former top assistant/recruiter to Pat Summit at Tenn. Former HC Kentucky.

LaKale Malone, former Recruiting Coordinator at Neb.

Gale Valley, 18 yr assistant to Coach G at Duke.

That looks like a pretty formidable recruiting team to me. I am certainly open to comments, but it is hard to see how we could be a lot better on paper.

I can understand having a tough time with Baylor given their national success. I don't understand not whipping A&M for players.

Apparently she recruited players to Neb that were on a higher level than they had ever had.

I know this is getting into chicken-or-egg territory, but nothing gets a recruit's attention like winning. Texas has not been an elite program for a while. Having one of the best coaches in the history of the women's game and a staff full of good recruiters does nothing if you can't win. Right now, A&M is winning, and we haven't beaten them in a few years, if memory serves. I don't expect to out-recruit them until we're better than them on the court.
