Lone Star Showdown

It doesn't look encouraging for this year. They have really racked up in women's sports in that 5 of the 6.5 points are women's sports. What we have to do if we want to win is to not let the Aggies sweep us in softball and golf and we must sweep them in tennis which may be hard for our ladies team since the match is in College Station and usually the home court wins that one.

There is still some positive things even if we lose. Our men's swimming and diving team may bring us an NC which I would trade anytime for a Lone Star cup. Also even though our soccer team lost the point to the Aggies they won 2 games against the Aggies in the Big 12 tournament and in the playoffs in College Station. I would trade those wins for the Cup point anytime.
Another encouragement for next year is our women's cross country team. They have never got the point against the Aggies but this year they lost it by only 1 point in the totals which is extremely close and we have most of our team back next year and I think we have a good chance to get that point next year. Also the Aggies have taken over the point in Women's Swimming and Diving but we have a new coach and are getting good recruits and I think we can turn that around.
The thing is in the future we must not let the Aggies take over the Men's track and field points because since that sport has 6 available points a sweep in it would be disasterous for us.

Bill is truly amazing.

But, I just wanted to let you know, it's:

"There are still some positive things even if we lose."

Just b/c they win a point against us in a sport does not mean that they have a better program. Example being football and we split in basketball. We are a lock for the dance while they are on the bubble. Plus, they lose 2 starters next year (Jones and Kirk) while we "might" lose one (DJ).

One bummer was that we lost our almost completed UT Golf Club Building. This would have helped us a lot in our recruiting in these sports. Hopefully it will be rebuilt. A sad site below.

Haha, who cares?

If softball = 1 point, football = 1,000,000

Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football.

What else is there?

Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football, Football.

then we're really screwed, jack.

haha... but i agree. football is what does it for me most. but i still follow the other sports... but football is football!

What Jack said.

I met an aggy Saturday at my nephew's b-day party. When I mentioned I was a Horn he asked, "Who won last year, I forget?" He wasn't thinking of the Lone Star Showdown.

Their tie breaker is that it goes to the one who had won the prior year. I wrote State Farm last year (especially since it was the year we lost the football game) and suggested in case of a 9.5 to 9.5 the tie goes to the one that one in football since it was the most popular sport and that in the 19 point competition 10 of the 19 are women's sports.
Needless to say I didn't get a response.

"12-7, 12-7, 12-7, 12-7!"

"38-30, 38-30, 38-30, 38-30!"

"Cart McCoy, Cart McCoy, Cart McCoy, Cart McCoy!"

Once upon a time, there were 2 studs who lived in the same town. Longhorn and Sooner were their names. They competed in everything. Both talented, both tough and both mean. They battled each other and were each others' fiercest rival. A 3rd kid who lived close to Longhorn, named Aggie, wanted to compete with the 2 studs. Both ignored him and he resorted to telling them both how great and tough he was. The 2 studs continued to ignore him because they both felt he was nothing more than a pest and couldn't measure up to their rivalry. They beat him up almost every time they competed against him. Soon, they both started to ignore him and concentrate on each other...their main rival. Every so often, the little Aggie would win some competition against Longhorn or Okie and would say "ha-ha! 12-7! 38-30! Cart McCoy! Ha-Ha!" Just as in the past, Longhorn knew that he'd have to pay attention to the little pest. First, though, as always, there was and continues to be the main rival, Sooner. The fight would once agin be epic and tough and he would not be distracted. After all, he's won this fight more than he's lost. But once that fight is over, once the competition is between him and little wannabe Aggie, he would not be distracted. As in years past, Longhorn will whip little Aggie's butt four years in a row, put him in his place as not being on the same level as he and Sooner and shut him up. Aggie will always want to be Longhorns main rival, to be as good as he is, to garner the attention that Longhorn gives to Sooner. But all he can really expect and hope for is that after getting pummled again for 4 straight years, that Longhorn will again lose interest, lose focus and allow Aggie to slip in a victory now and then. He really doesn't want the full attention of Longhorn. That leads to a non-stop ***-whpping!
