LoLo Jones

What a classless organization NBC is. I felt so sorry for LoLo Jones. She had the 110 hurdles gold medal almost around her neck but hit the 9th hurdle and finished out of the medals. She handled the on-the-track worthless interview well. No excuses, just one of those things that happens twice a year.

She went into the tunnel to cry, I would too. Why didn't NBC just leave it alone. No they had to show it.

LoLo has had a pretty hard life to get to where she is. She is 26 so this was probably her last chance to win individual gold. I was really pulling for her.

She was two hurdles from the Gold. By a good margin. I was devastated for her. She's one of my favorite US team members this summer.

I thought NBC was also classless when they interviewed the American (Pearson?) who finished 3rd in the 200m and basically asked him why he stepped on the line to DQ himself. Like he did it on purpose, like he is looking down to even see the line. It is all practice and instinct and he made a mistake. But it isn't like he was purposely cheating.

Classless. And they asked him like two times. Come on.

Fied,
I had the exact same reaction...I posted this on another thread, but I can't believe the composure these athletes are able to keep in the face of such obvious inflammatory questioning. That 'sideline reporter' and Andrea Kramer and the gymnastics sideline reporter must have really put in some long hours studying the techniques of their predecessor and consummate professional, Jim Gray:The Link (couldn't find a youtube clip of that incident)

Wallace Spearmon is the American who finished 3rd in the 200M and was disqualified. The on-track reporter actually asked him "are you disappointed?"

LoLo Jones had amazing composure given what had just happened. They shouldn't even try to interview in a situation like that; our athletes deserve better from our own network.

I'm proud of Lolo. She kicked as at LSU and is a great representative for LSU and the US. I wish like hell she could've won, and it hurts that she didn't.

That said, NBC is really playing the consumate ******* here. That hagface Kramer did a great job screwing with Sacramone and the girls gymnasts. And how the other reporters are hounding good people like Jones and Spearman. We know they're disappointed. What human wouldn't be. Just shut the **** up if you have nothing of substance to ask or interview about. But nooooooo, NBC just has to find a way to be dicks to everyone. Cept the Chinese of course.

I loved that Lolo stopped the girl that won passing right by her in the middle of the interview to give her a hug and congratulate her... that showed great class and sportsmanship...

I used to be a TV reporter/anchor in Austin and you are right, blood, bodies (discretely covered of course) and once you see the eyes well up, zoom in for that tight shot.Don Henley's song "Dirty Little Laundry" is so true. We did actually have a board where you picked the day you thought a missing girl's body would be discovered and had a pot of $$ Sick. The major reason I got out.

Lolo should be a model--that woman is gorgeous. I had no idea she had such a hard life. Hopefully her looks and dignity with which she handled herself in such a terrible time might catch some advertisers eye.

Agree with all the above posts.

However, the worse things are interviewing teenagers after disappointments. The 15 year old diver who just missed the finals could hardly talk because she was crying so much. She kept apologizing.

I say to her, "Sweetie, NBC and the idiot interviewer should apologize to you!"

I don't have a problem with any of the interviews. The network paid big bucks for the right to broadcast the games. Besides, it's good publicity for the athletes.

I don't have a problem with them showing her crying. It showed her vulnerability and people can sympathize even more for her. Besides, if you want privacy, go to a bathroom and close the stall.

unless these athletes are under some sort of commitment to do any interviews nbc wants, if i were one of them and had just had something bad happen like that, i would refuse an interview. or if they asked me some stupidass question like are you disappointed, i'd just say 'what do you think?' and walk away.

interviews are supposed to be for getting information. asking someone who just had maybe the biggest disappointment of their lives if they are disappointed is something that a 5 year old would do only because they don't yet know better.
