Watching the Bridge City/San Antonio LLWS playoff game from Waco on ESPN2 (Winner goes to Williamsport)

During the TV player intros, each player gave his name and favorite MLB player. Instead of namiing their favorite player, two of the San Antonio players stated "My favorite players are Texas Tech" the other stated "My favorite players are The Oklahoma Sooners"

No joke, that's what they said. Sad!

worst homeplate umpire I've ever seen - he should never be allowed to work a game of that magnitude again. His strike zone was crazy.

he was bad....that bridge city team beat my buddies team at the texas east state tournament..that one group had played over 400 games together..been playing select ball since they were 7

That was the widest and highest strike zone I've ever seen. But at least it was for both sides. And many of the kids seemed to adjust. Glad a Texas team is going to the LLWS, and I think they said it's the first for a team from San Antonio. Congrats!

The S.A. boys are doing well in Williamsport. They won their first two games and are currently playing the best team from the west, Chula Vista, CA. The attendance has been announced as 22,500.

Texas up 4-2 after 3.

every player on every US team plays select ball as well as Little League ball.

All those SA kids live within the McAlister Park little league boundaries, they do not live in Round Rock...they might have been born in Round Rock.

You can play on as many teams as you like, but you must play in at least 60% of the regular season Little League games to be eligible to be on the All Star team...or you need a waiver (this is only granted for an injury).

That select team you linked only played 9 games this season and if you look at their schedule, you'll note that all the games were before the little league season got ramped up.

I took a LL team to state this year - the documentation required to prove a player is eligible is extensive (call it the Danny Almonte rule)...every kid on every team has been vetted numerous times.

Yeah most play both...looks like they did play in nations back in May....
The Link

Regardless they are good and as someone mentioned earlier LL requires a ton of docs....so they are all legal i am sure to get to that point...

That win last night was huge, it was nice to see them beat that team from california

SA wins and plays for the American Championship on Sat. I have never seen the "fundamentals" played better at any level, including the Disch. Did you notice on the double plays how they throw the ball before the cover man is on the base allowing him to catch the ball in stride. Wow!

There are alot of prospects on that field. I hope Tommy Harmon is writing these kids' name down.

Some of the home plate umpiring is terrible. They showed a couple of pitches that were not even close. No way these kids could even touch what was called a strike.

Mike Shull deserves a lot of credit for helping these kids achieve what they have. Their execution has been outstanding and they're having fun! The latter is the most important thing and learning baseball and its nuances is secondary, and the manager has done a masterful job of both.

True he has done a great job..the way he talks to the kids is awesome..but so are the kids attitudes....if I tried to talk or have fun with some my kids on my team, well..haha there would be more jacking around and eyes rolling then I could care for....it appears his kid are all business on the field, and you can do that and have fun too...some kids cant seperate that line....apparently they do and their results speak for themselves....I hope they win tomorrow!

$20 says in a couple years a scandal comes out that the birth certificate for the Ramirez kid on California is a fake and hes 10 years older than he says.

I've coached or helped coach LL in SA for about 4 years, but these kids (on both teams) are way better than the kids I've coached. Like said above, they not only play LL, but also Select league, and I'll wager they have been playing together for several years. As for the Ramirez kid from Chula Vista, he looks like he's about 16. 6'2" & 220 lbs while everyone else is about the same size? Could be a freak of nature like Shaq, or he just might be older than 12.
