Little help?

I may be moving to Austin in the near future and I have a question. Are pit bulls allowed in Austin? Someone told me they weren't, but I can't find any evidence to back that up.

Anyone knowledgeable on the subject?

Not a weird question if you're moving to Austin and you own pit bulls. I just heard that rumor somewhere but my family there said they see them all the time.

I haven't heard of such a rule, but it's worth a call to the city to be sure. Here's a link to the city's website:The Link

If this does turn out to be for real, it's pretty easy to live very close to the city without being in the city limits.

Well, the town lake animal shelter is swamped with the beasts, and they will let people adopt them. That sounds like a yes. We picked up a pit/lab mix when he was just a puppy. Their two rules are that they spay or neuter the animal and you have to promise to take it to a training school by a certain date.

However, some apartment complexes will not allow you to have pit, so you have to watch out for that sometimes.
