Little Giant ladder

Anyone have one of these things? My wife is starting a side business doing the interior painting for an interior decorator and this looks like it would fit most of her needs.

I'm somewhat of an insomniac, so I see the tv ad all the time. They look pretty cool.

But I think they're expensive.

i've used one of the identical ones from lowes, hd, sam's, or costco that cost 1/4 as much. they are really nice. might be kinda overkill for just painting interiors, though. they are kinda heavy compared to a normal ladder.

My wife bought me one for Christmas (after watching me on a wobbly ladder trying to replace a can light on the front porch). It will do what they say. It is probably overpriced - especially with the knockoffs (Gorilla) out there.

The one thing about your wife using it - it is relatively heavy. Probably 50 lbs, give or take. The weight was the biggest surprise for me, but I have gotten used to it (I was just so used to light aluminum ladders).

I have done some stuff with the ladder I wouldn't/couldn't with others (like setting it up on stairs). I like the ladder and don't fear the wobbly ladder shaking anymore because the ladder is so sturdy and stable. I haven't used it as a scaffold base (yet), but I think it would work well.

Supposedly, the Gorrilla (I think it is available at Home Depot) is the same ladder, but cheaper. I would have your wife check out the weight before buying one of these ladders.

I'll just second what everyone else has pretty much said in that articulated ladders are handy, but heavy. I bought a "World's Greatest Ladder" at CostCo a couple years ago for $80 (normally $100 but they had a special $20 off coupon) and I love it. It came in extremely handy a few weekends ago when we were painting our living room & stairwell (we have some vaulted ceilings that are 14' high in places) & painting the stairwell would have been almost impossible without it.

I've used mine inside & out, but it is heavy (upwards of 50 lbs) and I don't think my wife would be comfortable using it (she always looks nervous when I start to lock it into some weird position.

When we had our new roof put on last spring the roofing company sent a guy out to measure & give us a quote. He had an articulated ladder that looked like it weighed about 20 lbs. I wish I would have asked him who made it.

Sorry. I was drunk when I posted that link.

A lot of the houses/condos in Atlanta area have ceilings that follow the roof line and doing plasterwork/faux painting crap on those high walls (one wall in our breakfast area is 18 ft tall). Plus, she is installing this cool stuff that looks like a tin ceiling in some rooms and having an elevate platform would be a hell of a lot easier than standing on a ladder. She is probably going to have to buy scaffolding to deal with some of this stuff unless that ladder could do the job. Thanks for the info everyone. This 'job' of hers is probably going to cost me 10 grand to get her set up. ****.
