I'm assuming that Joseph will come back... his workouts in the NBA are nothing more than gaining perspective on where he can improve. If he goes, it will be in the 2nd round to someone who wants him as a project, but I think that's doubtful.

Chapman
Holmes
Joseph
Brown
Kabongo

There will be a nine-man rotation. Walk-ons haven't amounted to anything under Barnes since Chris McColpin was jacking up threes.

Thomas would be the first off the bench (my guess is that he ends up with more minutes than whoever is starting at the beginning of the season), with Wangmene filling in for post minutes. The guard situation off the bench is trickier, as McClellan and Lewis have both looked good to me on offense and so-so on D in the clips I've watched. McClellan can eat up some swingman minutes if we need our three-guard rotation to get a breather, or to take fouls.

I have a feeling we're going to force Joseph, Brown, and Kabongo to play 39 out of 40 minutes, which is probably going to lead to the same fatigue problems we had the last two years.

I also think Chapman is going to be limited in his minutes, but he will use those minutes far better than he had in the past.

Well you can scratch Joseph. He's going pro too. Best of luck! Thanks for the good year.

Thompson and Joseph stay in NBA draft

We're hurtin' for certain. I read in the morning paper that we've lost our top three scorers and six of our top seven players! A lot of freshmen will be playing. Luckily, it's not like Barnes hasn't been through this before.

This team will be J'Covan's next year. Barnes has always been reluctant to hand over the reins to Cove - for good reason - but he has no choice now. He'll have to build the team around Cove and lean on him for big minutes and a lot of scoring. I don't have delusional expectations, but I'm excited. I think he is ready to be the star. I hope he is working his *** off this summer (literally and figuratively)

TJ had some serious depth on his teams (Sweet 16 and Final 4). Unless MK can do it all by himself, I think we're in for some growing pains kind of years.

With Joseph gone, I'll alter my starting 5 to include Lewis for now. I still think a 3-guard rotation is preferred at the moment. Trying to force McClellan or Thomas in to action is not advisable or likely. And Wangmene needs to come off the bench to be the post backup player, as he and Chapman will split minutes playing the same position.

3 dudes playing pickup at Gregory gym.

We just lost 8 talented years of eligibility (Hamilton - 2, Thompson - 3, Joseph - 3.

They lost two, probably. One each from Thompson and Joseph. None of those guys was going to be at Texas for four years, but I think it's fair to say that they thought they could get two from both of them.

I'd love to have high expectations for Kabongo, but consider that of the 3 Findley guards - Bradley, Joseph and Kabongo - Kabongo is the lowest rated recruit. Maybe that means nothing, but you certainly wouldn't have wanted the first two guys to be the focal points of our team the last two years. I think Bradley and Joseph both turned out to be over-hyped at some level and lacking true play making skills and scoring ability. Until I see different, I refuse to expect much more out of Kabongo's freshman year.

I'm sure you'll tell me that it doesn't matter where they came from and they are all unique players.....I'm just saying that I'm skeptical of the Findley kids. They get their players tons of exposure and, as a result, expectations seem to be too high.

Watch film on Kabongo and you'll change your mind. He is worlds better than Bradley and Joseph, and he is actually a true PG, rather than an undersized SG like AB or CJ. I hate to throw this word around prematurely, but he certainly looks to have the "it" factor. Guy is legit.
