Lilley Vander Zee transferring

Good luck to Lilley, she brought a lot of personality to the team. She should get plenty of playing time there.

She seemed to be a lovely person and I'm happy she was a part of this program for the past several years. I hope she enjoys West Texas A&M, and has an opportunity to make an impact there. Good luck, Lilley, and thank you!

I wonder if we're going to see anyone else depart during the transfer window. Someone reminded me this is the final year that athletic scholarships are renewable on an annual basis, so things will be a bit different starting next season. Of course the rule applies equally to all programs, so perhaps not a huge impact overall, but I do think coaches will be less willing to take a change on players they're unsure about.

I am sure Coach Aston had a one on one meeting with each player since the end of the season. It was probably made clear to Lilly that playing time would continue to be limited. Why not go somewhere that she can contribute. She was a 100% supporter of the program and I loved her attitude. Best of Luck to Lilly at WT A&M!!:bevo:

Besh wishes, Lilley!

She is a wonderful person but was just not able to get any PT. She was always positive with fans. Gonna miss her and her wonderful personality.

Still think we might see at least one more player leave, depending on who is coming in.

I agree. Ariel's tweets keep getting more...interesting.

"Being a coach is more than teaching the game js" This was liked/retweeted by Nneka and recent decommit DiDi Richards.

Sometimes when you try to read into what someone says on twitter, it can be a good thing and bad thing.

When does the transfer window end? This talk about Ariel is making me nervous.
There's really not a window, most players transfer after the season or at the end of the school year/semester. If she said that she is not transferring, then obviously she's not.

Sounds like a fairly straightforward observation. I don't see the hidden meaning that some are looking for. That comment actually would be a good conversation starter on what a player is looking for in a coach/program.

Until they announce different, like Nekia and Lilley did, I will assume that all players will be coming back although I am realistic enough to know that some may not be happy and that change is about the only thing one can count on.

There is no time when a player can no longer move on. They do it in the middle of the season, between semesters, during the summer and so on. All I hope for is that they leave having become better people, better players for having come here, whether the leavetaking occurs after their graduation or sometime between the start of their freshman year and the completion of their eligibility.

I shoukd have put "transfer window" in quotes as that's what someone referred to earlier in the thread.

What I really meant was I'll be glad when talk of Ariel possibly transferring ends. Hopefully, it has.

Will be a nice opportunity for someone...they've had back-to-back Div II Elite 8 appearances, and should have a strong roster next season. A good mix of returnees, incoming frosh and a solid group of transfers.

If Lilly transfers to West Texas she can play immediatley because they are Div II. SFA is Div I and she will have to set out a year to get eligible. May be a tough decision for her.

Kellogg has a couple of NC game appearances at two different schools, but West Texas A&M has been a good program for many years. I could be wrong, but I don't see this as the type of situation where players are there solely because of the coach; in fact, many of the top players on this year's squad were already on the roster when he arrived in 2013. I'm not sure that many Buff commits/transfers/current squad members would even be a good fit for SFA, so I don't think we'll see much of an impact with respect to players moving from one program to the other. I guess we'll have to see who the new coach is - that will probably have a lot to do with how players feel about the transition.
