IIRC he didn't see much playing time as a rookie. It seems the only issue was his lack of breakaway speed after a catch. But he had good hands, and a completion to move the ball forward IMHO is better than dropping the ball constantly with an occasional catch and run for a TD.

Another guy I thought would be a dude that showed flashes a year before LJ was Reggie Hemphill-Mapps. Hated to see him leave...
