If we aren't going to get a a guy or he is our #3 and we already have 1 and 2 and no more slots, do we try to encourage them to go to A & M or Tech instead of OU (or some similar thingy)? And vice versa?

Or is this just hogwash, whatever hogwash is. I'm not sure I'm prepared for the etymology.

Was your initial question serious? Are you really asking people on this board that question? Do you expect anybody on this board to KNOW the answer to that question?

I don't know precisely what happened to Mack in the first couple of years after he arrived at UT, when he was fairly public about encouraging Texas kids to stay in Texas, even if they weren't going to get a schollie to play for the Longhorns. But I do know he's no longer public about making those types of statements. So something happened (and I recall the rumors as to what that something was, too).

I GUESS, but I do not KNOW, that we don't encourage a kid to look at any other particular school. I suspect that is quite the losing strategy.
