Light Fixture?

The light above our sink went out a couple of weeks ago. After changing the bulb and seeing nothing (literally), I got out the toolbox. The volt meter picked up nada through the light. Next I checked the current after the transformer...nada. Next I checked the current before the transformer...120.

So, I decide the transformer went bad and I order a new one. I hook up the new one today and nothing.

What am I missing? Could I just be that unlucky that I got a bad transformer? I'm an electrical novice so please let me hear what you think.

If you haven't, try testing the transformer output independent of any other wiring, etc. The transformer should put out 12V AC, so make sure your meter is set to AC Volts. Some lights use a 12V DC power supply so your meter would need to be set to DC Volts. It should be marked on the transformer/power supply. If that's not good then you must have gotten a bad one. If it is good, then it's somewhere in the wiring to the socket or the socket itself. You can also ohm out the bulb to be sure it's good. Also, some fixtures may have a temperature sensitive fuse that blows if the fixture overheats.
