Finalists:Big 12 has three of the eight finalists:
Alison Lacey, Iowa State
Nadirah McKenith, St. John's
Samantha Prahalis, Ohio State
Sam Quigley, DePaul
Andrea Riley, Oklahoma State
Danielle Robinson, Oklahoma
Jasmine Thomas, Duke
Courtney Vandersloot, Gonzaga
sure, she can put up points (after shooting way too many shots), but that doesn't make her a great point guard. IMO she lacks the floor leadership criterion..big time
you have to admit that she leads her team in just about every offensive category and a few defensive ones, iirc, off the top of my head. Riley is an awesome offensive talent, and she has toned down her "offensive" behavior on court.
Riley no doubt leads her team offensively. she's definitely a play maker and can light it up. but i still don't think she's a great point guard. great point guards lead their team in many ways (that don't show up in stat lines).
Prahalis does a nice job at Ohio State. she's handles the ball well and passes well...plus she has a lot of help inside with Lavender.
outside of the Big 12, i haven't seen many of the other girls on the lsit. but for me the most impressive this year is probably Danielle Robinson. who would have thought OU would be #2 in conference right now? i certainly didn't...especially after they lost Hand for the season. i think Robinson has done a great job leading a young/somewhat inexperienced team this season. for me, that makes a great point guard.
