DeYonna has her boot off.

Amo is allowed to dribble, jog a bit, and shoot but not allowed to drive to the basket for a layup - all this in warmups.

Besides, the way she walks I know she's not in shape to run up and down the court at this time.

Today was constant harassment on the inbounds, which we see at the beginning of the year against lower tier teams (although when looking at last year's stats Liberty was roughly equal to us and our record). I don't know how many turnovers came from the harassment, but it was around 10? Anyway, I hope we keep it up. It seems about 1/3 of the way into the season, Vic eases up on the inbound harassment. Or, we're facing a team that it doesn't bother. You can tell that Liberty practiced for this as they switched quickly to the second inbounder method.

I wasn't able to watch the game live, so I recorded it. But after looking at the box score I don't think I will. There's not one thing in that box score that intrigues me to watch. Shooting is still horrendous from downtown and the free throw line.

The hustle on defense is worth the watch. Forced 35(!) turnovers.

I was there live. Go ahead and watch. Liberty isn't a bad team at all. They have size, they have quicks, and they shot great from deep during the first half. Our ability to turn them over kept us afloat.

We need to be better when we get open shots. We need to be better from the free throw line. Otherwise this team is a lot of fun.

Watch Amina Muhammad

Okay, since you all twisted my arm I watched the recording of the game. ;)We actually didn't play that bad... Just didn't shoot the ball particularly well. We got shots out of our executed offense, we just didn't finish by hitting them. We've got to do better from the free throw line!

Taylor Jones needs to start the game. Having her as a real scoring threat in the paint I feel would help us get off to a better start offensively. There's a big difference in how our offense flows when she's in the game.

We really need to get Dee healthy and back in the lineup. I'm really impressed with Amina's continued improvement, but it's still not the same as having Dee to start the game. Once A-Mo is healthy and back in shape we should be even better down there on the block. That will be three really good options for Vic at the four.

We got to have more production out of our two spot. I'm not sure what's wrong with Gonzalez, but I feel she'll get it together and hopefully sooner than later. Right now we look better with Shae and Booker on the wings with Rori. Booker is still figuring some things out and she's just going to get better and better with each game!

I'll tell you something about that Liberty team... they're pretty good and IMO they could hold their own with most teams in the Big 12. I'm not sure what conference they're in, but I expect him to be in the NCAAs again this year.

Lots to be positive about and lots to improve on. Pretty much par for the course this early in the season.

You saw what I saw, for the most part. We got our shots in the flow of our offense many times, and clanked them. I don't know how a coach addresses that. Hopefully though, it fixes itself.

Gonzales seems to be in a bit of a shooting slump to start the season, but I think we all know that’s temporary. I’m encouraged that Rori seems to be getting her pull up jumper back that was missing last year.

IF only we could get healthy and stay that way, this team could be really, really good in conference and post season play.

Mohammed surprises me. I didn’t think she could ever be an adequate shooter. But she obviously has improved by working on her 10-12 foot short corner and elbow shots. And her free throws. With her other attributes, all she needs to do is be able to contribute in those 3 shooting areas and Schaefer will be able to keep her on the floor. Last year, she couldn’t. This year, perhaps.

I think with Mohammed, the improvements are: confidence and ball handling

What you would expect out of a sophmore. So, on track.

I appreciate your comment on ball handling for Muhammad. I noticed yesterday that her handle had improved some. Yes…..always expect a sophomore jump…..and hers appears significant. So far, she looks like she has been working on her shooting/ball handling. Never any doubt on her motor and nose for the ball.

And let's not forget her contributions on the defensive side. Strong rebounder and Vic says she's our best on ball defender after Rori.

I agree with you re Gonzalez, BRNKJ. She is perplexing. Leading scorer at BYU, comes over here and first year she is a middle of the pack scorer; and this year even worse so far. Is this part of Vic's plan, and if not, why doesn't she shoot the ball?

She's shooting the ball, just not like she did last year. First two games she's 2 for 11 (1 for 6 from 3pt) and 3 for 11 (1 for 5 3 pt). She hasn't gotten herself to the free throw line yet this season. As far as her scoring going down from her days at BYU, that's not surprising to me because the competition in a P5 conference is better. Also, Vic runs a system that lends itself to more balanced scoring. I suspect that she will break out of whatever little mini-slump she's in to start the season. I'd like to see that happen tonight for the sake of her confidence. We need her to hit shots... that's her primary purpose on the offensive end of the floor.

I think Vic is very impressed with Muhammad as everyone should be because she looks really good! I remember at one point Muhammad hit a free throw jumper and Vic turned to Sydney Carter and gave her a handshake which I’ve never seen him do especially not during a game when we are up big.
