LHN subscriptions

How many people will be clamouring for it with play like UT has had now for 2 years running? ESPN is cringing.

The worst thing about the LHN is they replay our games several times the following week. So I've seen BU beat us at least 4 times in a row...

I think the true fans, the real fans will still clamor for it. There is lots of content and a growing variety of programs. There are other athletes that represent the 40 Acres and fans will want to see those games too unless they only follow football.

I was brought up being told that a true fan/friend is one that sticks with you in good and bad. One that will not only ride around in your car but will also help wash it or fix it if need be. Something like that.

Which are you? and you? and you?

As promised by the administration/ESPN, there is academic content. Now I realize it is 2am, but UT professors are lecturing on the LHN.

The commercial said to tell my TV provider that I need the LHN, so I went to Best Buy where I bought mine and they said they couldn't help me.

I have the season DVD's.

if we were any good, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU have 10-12 shows focused 100% on college football, and I would get plenty of Longhorn coverage.

I'm not sure i would want to see any more, "we can't compplete a forward pass" coverage.

The LHN is not a buy for me. I don't know anyone who talks about it, and i work and hang out with tons of longhorns.

On another related issue between Time Warner and ESPN, Xbox 360 users who have Xbox Live were promised they would be getting ESPN on Xbox Live with all sorts of features for most cable providers. Pretty much everyone got it except people with Time Warner. This was promised to go live in November 2010...over a year ago.

When you call Time Warner they say it's up to ESPN or Microsoft. When you call Microsoft/Xbox Support they say it's up to Time Warner. Still don't have it to this day.

I really hope the LHN issue doesn't drag out as long as this because ESPN on Xbox Live is an even bigger deal to more people than LHN simply due to wider fanbase.

I'll subscribe to it on an interwebs account, but not likely to buy cable or sat. Ain't had no TV for a good 15 years now, not likely to go back. Went down like this:

Tex: "Hi, I want the cable turned off, disconnected, whatever you call it."

USCable: "Oh, sir, I'm sorry to hear you're having service problems. What do we need to do to correct that for you?"

Tex: "Service? No problem there, the service is fine. It's the product I don't like."

USCABLE: "What? What do you mean?"

Tex: "I mean the stuff that's on there is pure-dee ****, pardon my frainch. I don't want to see it or hear it any more. Turn it off, and if there's a refund, send me a check."

USCABLE: ... crickets ...

I got a thing in the mail that was for a super duper offer from UVerse. I was on the shitter reading through mail so I figured I would waste some time and give 'em a ring. I pretended to be really interested in their product and let him explain quickly how awesome it is. I was intrigued but had just one question for him.

I told him that I had looked through the channels listed and there was an oversight or a misprint. There was no
Longhorn Network listed. What package level does that come with? I got put on hold a couple of seconds and he came back with info they don't have it.

Bummer, I told him. That is a deal breaker for me. Contact me when you have it. He offered 6 months or so of HBO. No, that is a deal breaker, let your higher ups know. Thanked him for his time and said it was a shame that one channel cost them my business.

I will do so with Direct TV too if I have to make a movement and they send me a mailer.

So now that the football regular season is over, what's on for 24 hours a day? A bunch of basektball stuff along with family and friends sports (as in that's all who care about soccer, tennis, swimming, tiddly winks, etc).

I keep getting a mental picture as in the Simpons's Spin Off Show, when Troy talked about a few holes in the Fox programming to fill - everthing except 3 hours a week was listed as ???.

No question, there are many loyal Longhorn fans that will subscribe if it is offered. But are there enough of these fans? I'm a UT alum, but I'm not at all surprised the large cable companies aren't offering it. Apparently, the large cable providers feel there isn't sufficient demand to warrant the high subscriber fees, non-revenue sports, and weak football teams that the LHN currently offers. If there aren't any major cable providers offering it by the start of the 2012 football season, you'd have to start calling the LHN an over-hyped network failure.
