Let's just say they were ready for the heavy rains we sometimes have in Houston. Some were very ready.

Seriously, the LHB is great. We should be able to provide them uniforms that fit.

Yes, ShinerTx, I'm a former LHB member and if there is ANY significant rain chance, they carry a 3/4 length raincoat with them. Typically stuffed in the front of their jacket and/or top of their pants. Also, music could be in there too but I dout it for a parade since its usually just traditionals.

I'm guessing the rain reference was to the term "flood pants".

Yes, that's it. I mean, I know that LHB is a huge time commitment for these kids. The least we can do is get them a uniform that fits. I mean, some of them have pants 10 inches off the ground. Not exaggerating. If you are an LHB member or Alum, who coordinates financial contributions?

Contributions are coordinated through the Band office in the Music School or through the Longhorn Alumni Band. The LHB service sorority hems the pants each year for those issued new uniforms. The first thing I did when I got my uniform my 1st year was take it home to Mom and ask her to hem them to the proper length! I'm 6'4'' so short pants are especially annoying.

I was in LHB and I'm really glad they finally got new hats that actually LOOK like decent cowboy hats. The ones we had while i was in the band were more like hats that you'd find on Zorro.

Regarding the uniform sizes. That's marching bands in general. Even in high school, when new band members came in, they have to be measured, but they could only select from the members that were leaving. hence 70 kids had to select from 100 uniforms (each different measurements). Hence if you are the last one, you are screwed. That's just the way it works unfortunately.

I like the new raincoats the got however.
