Jim Leyritz allegedly hit and killed a 30-year-old woman in Florida. He blew a .14.

He had to have a breathalyzer installed in his car as a condition to remain out of jail while awaiting trial. Now he wants the breathalyzer removed because it is "inconvenient."

I dont like how no one else can drive the car. what if there is an emergency and someone needs to be rushed to the hospital.

but say leyritz car is blocking in the persons car, or hell he is drunk, but no one can use his car.

why not just take away the person's license.

I read somewhere that the dead chick's BAC was higher than Leyritz's and she wasn't wearing a seat belt when their SUV's collided. Not letting him off the hook completely, but there's some blame that needs to be shared.

For vehicular manslaughter of a 30-yr old mother, Jim may want to just look at this blowing as practice for what's in store for him.

How does that not make sense? He has to blow clean to get his car to start. Therefore, if he is drunk, he can't drive it. If all they did was take his license away, he could be absolutely sh@#$faced and still drive the car. Yes, he can just drive another car, but at least they are limiting his options and making it more difficult for him. By just taking away his license, he can still physically drive any car he wants. Besides, I hope the court is wise enough to know that if the man owns several cars, they need to put a breathalyzer on all of them.

so the wife's car needs to have one now?

the kids?

because someone could just drive those cars.

(im talking about all cases,)

ps ive never had a dwi so dont think this is some person crusade.

The "blow-start your car" option is a luxury afforded to people so that they can continue to make it to work after their license has been suspended. If Leyritz sees this as an inconvenience, let him ride the bus or get cabs.

with breathalyzers the person has to tell the court which car they will be installing the device into and that person is only allowed to drive that car. If he is pulled over and is driving another car he violates the the agreement and his probation.

The funny thing is that they can suspend his license and still order him to have the device installed in the car. WTF?
