Lexus ES 91 model..

I am looking for a car but my budget is very limited. Found a 91es Lexus for $1800. Silver color, sun roof, leather interiors, new tires and all other good stuff but it has 180K miles on it. I am not looking for a long term car obviously, just something that will let me do my daily activities..farthest i'll dirive it is probably to SF which is an hours drive away.

So my question is this...knowing toyota's are pretty reliable, is 180K miles still too much? Would you buy it? What further information should I get before i decide?

Thanks in advance..

I've read that Lexus engines are designed for ~400k with proper mainenance. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see things like PS pumps failing, leaking water pump, and other wear and tear once you're up to 180K. I think I'd look at it from the standpoint of whether or not you can unload it after you're done with it - I wouldn't expect too much in the way of maintenance cost, but then again, that can be a crapshoot...

Careful with that much mileage. The ES is basically a Camry and those early 90's models have a history of leaking oil with high mileage. Still probably as reliable as anything else with that many miles, but there is always a caution on any high mileage car. I would go with something with a bit less panache, but a lot fewer miles in the same price range.
