Poor little McClaren Mercedes had some guy named Lewis Hamilton not only building the cars, but getting out of them on every pit stop and changing all of the tires and refueling the the car as well. A first in F1. And not only that, he won the championship by a point.

The purchasing power in South American is SO MUCH STRONGER than in Europe. So yeah, F1 totally was hoping for a Brazilian champ.
Oh, and Hamilton was the odds on favorite all season long.
And he would have won the championship last year if he hadn't ****** up the final race. But year...

Perhaps the analogy was a bit of a stretch.
That was an exciting season of F1, and an exciting final race, with the World Driving Championship decided on the final turn of the last lap! I couldn't believe that.
Ferrari thought they had won the driver's championship on the cool down lap-quite dramatic.
The fourth place car gambled on dry tires and the track finally got wet enough for him to lose time, just prior to the finish, and the fifth and sixth placed cars, including Hamilton, cruised by just before the flag.
Hamilton may have played it a little too conservatively, cruising around in 5th and 6th place all day, and it almost cost him the championship.
I enjoyed it. What will next season bring? It seemed like Toyota and BMW were joining the fray towards the end of the year, along with Ferrari, McLaren and Renault as well.
It would be great to have five competitive teams out there.

Spanish racists target Lewis Hamilton on website - 'willing' him to crash in world title-deciding race
Hundreds of sick messages have been left on the site taunting him over the colour of his skin - with some even expressing a wish that he kills himself.
One message on the site, from a man calling himself Carrillo, says: 'Half-breed, kill yourself in your car.'
One, calling himself David, left a porcupine out for Lewis on lap seven alongside a message saying: 'F*** you bastard. Monkey.'
Yet another, dubbing Hamilton a 'Conguito' - a gollywog-style chocolate sweet popular in Spain - said: 'Conguito, you are going to die.'
Another, who called himself Chusqui, left a nail out near the finishing line on lap 12, alongside the insult: 'Nigger.'
Spectators had shouted 'black s***' and 'black *****' at him during testing in Barcelona. Some fans turned up with blackened faces and wigs and wore T-shirts bearing the words 'Hamilton's family'.

Oh, I'm not saying no racial taunting occurred. It obviously did, and those "fans" who took part are nothing more than scum. However, complaining about someone handing you a black cat, or something equally benign or at least not motivated on the surface by race, doesn't help one's cause. It only makes him look like a hypersensitive whiner.
Lewis, and I would say moreso, his Dad, needs to get a thicker skin and rise above, or at least find a different way of addressing the problem. He needs to let his 23 y.o. son, who just won the f'ing WDC, decide for himself whether or not he would pull out of F1 and not go shooting his mouth off to the press about it. It's Lewis' decision. Besides, leaving F1 would be stupid, and would be a victory for the ******** Dad's so upset by. It was just a stupid thing to say on so many levels...but not the first from him, and surely not the last.
