So I spent some time on a kayak this past weekend and by God do I have the bug now. I love to fish the coast and would spend most of my time from Palacios to Galveston and also on some Hill Country rivers. I know some of you are fisherman and use kayaks. What recommendations do you have for models, length, brand, etc. I am a big dude at 6'2" and would consider buying 2. one for myself and a 2 man kayak to be able to take my son and daughter with me. Any help is appreciated.

I have a nucanoe, www.nucanoe.com/.Great balance and comfortable, both standing and seated. Mostly fish the coast and it has been great. Its really nice to be able to throw it in the truck and be on the water in no time. Im able to fish areas i wasnt able to before, and now really prefer it to fishing out of a boat. The dealer in corpus let me take one out for the wknd before i purchased.

Wilderness Systems are pretty popular for sit-ontops. 2 of my friends have them. See to be good quailty. Not really built for speed or touring. A lot of fisherman and rec paddlers use them.

I've got an Ocean Kayak Sidekick that I love. It's designed to go solo as well as with a small child. Very comfortable. I've spent hours at a time in it with my 10 year old. I've also had my 15 year old in it but just for short stints in a local pond. My dog absolutely loves it.

You might as well head over hereThe Link if you're going to get into kayak fishing. You'll get lots of good information.

I'm a big guy and I fish out of a Wilderness Systems Ride 135. I suggest joining Texas Kayak Fisherman.comThe Link

It's a great resource for everything kayak.

Here are a couple of pics of my yak.
