I'm pretty jazzed to see what Beard does in his second season, and in seeing how the new faces integrate with the returners.

I want to see 1) defense, and 2) more offensive cohesion because we have a real point guard on hand.

I know that's extremely generic, but it is the opener, and we can get more specific about our hopes and expectations as the season matures.

I'm pretty pleased. We had some rough patches where we couldn't buy a bucket, but I rarely felt like the offense was just stagnant. Defensively, I had no complaints at all. For the first game I thought we had very few breakdowns, but we got our asses kicked on the glass. That's an area we will need to improve.

Big kudos to Hunter, Disu, and Rice. Those guys all looked really good, although I didn't notice Disu doing a lot until the 2nd half. Hunter is better than advertised, and is definitely the answer to out point guard questions. Stay healthy, young man!

Was at the game. Really enjoyed the new venue as well as the outcome. But good grief that pumped-in music is LOUD! I know, I know. I'm showing my age, but damn.

The only glaring issues were Carr's 3-point shooting and the 10 turnovers by the guards. Other than that, I was happy with the result.

I think Rice should supplant Mitchell in the starting lineup. More schools will go with 3-guard sets anyhow, and he's big and feisty enough to cover a guy who might be 2-3 inches taller.
