Lesley Gore, RIP:

FAST FRED

500+ Posts
Singer of "It's My Party," "Judy's Turn to Cry," "You Don't Own Me" and "Maybe I Know" has passed.

:(

Other than my experiences with distaff members in own family, Miss Gore's songs first alerted me to the notion (and even helped me form a social strategy) how a female's feelings were something to be reckoned with and not be run over unconsidered or roughshod.

This was a valuable concept, learned early by this young male.

Noticing and respecting the female POV has made me a better man, at least somewhat, I think.

:)

James Rosen of Fox News wrote this tribute to Miss Gore, which I find worthwhile to pass on:

Good points FF about your experience. She was a pioneer for women in several ways and she was a giant in pop music for a good while.

Her death at a young 68 shocked me last week.

RIP Ms. Gore:(

I thought the Rosen article was very well done! Did not even know she was ill and had not yet heard the sad news, thanks for passing along.
I am also ashamed to say that it took me longer to learn those important lessons FF. I certainly enjoyed Leslie's songs and singing talent at the time but the sensitivity towards women (and girls in general) did not reach me until I had daughters of my own. I am certainly not proud of it today, but I was quite callous regarding my relationships with the girls during my youth. Proper respect became a frequent lecture topic with my sons when they came along.
RIP Ms Gore.
