Legally Blonde

Anyone seen the current touring cast? Apparently the lead for the tour was injured and the original Broadway actress is now playing the lead. My daughter would like to go. Any first hand reviews, fellow posters?

My wife took her mother for her birthday this past weekend (along with some other people). She said they all loved it. I can ask her. She also loved Mama Mia, too, if that tells you anything.

Took my wife last week.

I....uh....tolerated it. I'm usually okay with musicals. Really liked Avenue Q and some others. Legally Blonde was okay, but there were several song-dance numbers that just had absolutely nothing to do with the story and felt like they were inserted to take up time and give everyone in the cast a chance to get on stage.

Also, there weren't many really catchy songs/funny moments.

Maybe because I have a 4-week-old baby at home, I wasn't in the right frame of mind/consciousness to appreciate it.

That said, the 23-year-old-girl-in-party-dress to 50-year-old mom portion of the audience seemed to love it.

I don't like this trend of taking average movies and turning them into musicals. Saw the Wedding Singer last year and it was awful. I guess the industry needs to recruit new/younger fans.

I thought it was okay.

However, color me way less than impressed with the renovations on the Performing Arts Center. I think the sound system is worse than it was before. The people I went with had trouble understanding the dialogue and lyrics at times.
