listening to NPR again. :)

NPR and other liberal media spent years downplaying the decreased wage effect that immigration has on US workers. Now all of sudden, with Trumps immigration actions they've decided to play up the "fewer immigrants means higher wages, which in turn, means higher prices"

I for one am ok with paying a little more for groceries and new homes and yard care and eating out. We need to control our borders and limit immigration. it will ultimately be good for US workers. Lose the immigration labor at the low end and Americans will be building our houses again. Lose the H1B crowd at the top end and Americans will be designing our applications and writing our code.

But the pro illegal crowd will say there are not enough people who want to do that kind of hard work and there are not enough qualified people for the tech industry. When you factor in it is so easy to have a life on gov't bennies people will not do that hard work
and since there is a visa specifically for agri work that has no ceiling for the number of LEGAL workers we allow in stopping illegals would not affect that industry.

H1B worker visa are harder to stem when all the tech companies say they can not find enough qualified citizens.

FIFY. They always leave off that last part.

The Hi-Tech industry as a whole has the highest average salaries of any industry that doesn't require advanced degrees (Doctors, Lawyers) and the lowest unemployment rate for technical skilled workers. Both of those facts deflate the argument that the H-1B program is leveraged to under-pay workers.
