Ledger's death ruled accidental overdose

They, whomever "they" are, have no way of definitively knowing whether this was an accident.

But lacking evidence that it was intentional, they come out and call it "accidental".

Being "ruled" accidental doesn't make it accidental. Kinda like being found not guilty....

it doesn't make sense to me why someone would be prescribed valium, xanax, and restoril. they are all pretty much the same drug and you would get essentially the same effects from each.

if the same doctor prescribed all three drugs, i would say that he is irresponsible.

I've had to try several different anti-depressants or sleep meds for people before finding one that worked. You counsel them to throw the old ones away but it isn't as if a pharmacist drives to their home and incinerates them. At some point personal responsibility is the operand.

BTW- Sad deal all the way around.

Its probably not that hard for someone with cash and connections in NYC to get their hands on whatever prescription meds they want.

Regardless of why he was prescribed all the drugs, he shouldn't have been taking them all at the same time. And he very likely knew that. It's a shame

I would guess they have no evidence that he was trying to kill himself. So you assume he wasn't and just made a terrible mistake. At this point its impossible to know his intentions for sure.

And again it could have been the same doc who prescribed several different sleep meds over time.

Look kids, Big Ben... Parliament.

Could be a "synergistic" effect of using the wrong medications together, or just too many of the perscribed meds. Those first two were given to me when I broke my leg, and I was eating them like candy at first-didn't seem to have much effect on the pain. Some people react much differently than others to medications.
I would think they would call it accidental without other evidence to the contrary, i.e. suicide note.

The article indicated that none of those meds were in excess levels in his body, which I guess would point to this being accidental rather than intentional. If I were trying to OD on all that stuff I wouldn't take just the recommended dose of each of them.

Even if I had all those scripts it would never cross my mind to take them all together. Why would you need to take 2 narcotic pain medications at the same time, or 3 sleeping pills? Just sad.

I'm aware of many people who have died from prescription drug abuse. Friends, family, clients, defendants - I used to do criminal defense and now prosecute. Strange that the DEA wasn't the least bit interested in their deaths.
