Brittany BarnHill left Texas softball to go to Mississippi. So far this year, her record is 1-5 and Ole Miss is 9-16 in the SEC.

Marla Looper left Texas to become head coach at Iowa. Her team is currently 10 of eleven in the Big 10 with a record of 9-10.

Be careful what you wish for.

Driftwood:
With Barnhill you are comparing apples to apples. But with Looper, IMHO your statement is premature. This is Looper's first year as a Head Coach. She does not even have her own recruits yet. Give her some time. After 10 or so years at Texas it was time to spread her wings.

Agree that Looper will need some time to turn the program around, but it definitely makes sense for her to have taken that next step. She did a great job at Texas and hopefully will do the same for Iowa. Barnhill on the other hand just wasn't as good at the collegiate level as many had hoped, but that isn't uncommon; there are a lot of great HS pitchers that have a hard time making the transition to the next level. Of course there are others (like Luna and Fox!) who do quite well. And then there's Cat...not much to say there because she's great at every level!

I made no before and after comparisons, Just stated the current stats. Marla inherited a sound program at Iowa. Opening has been tough. Just stating the facts. I continue to wish her well.

Barnhill wanted more something. Playing time, pitching starts, at bats, etc. Coach at Ole Miss gave her what she wanted and the result is questionable.

I like BB and hope her future yields better results!

Iowa was 25-23, and 10-9 in the Big 10 last year. They're currently at 14-12 - no conference contests yet - so about the same as last season thus far. Hawkeyes have also won 5 of their last 7, including a run of five straight. Looper seems to be holding her own which isn't always easy the year after a transition - let's hope the squad continues to improve.
