This is a lightning rod media production that has a lot of hidden meanings (some are rather obvious).
It's hard to talk much about it without spoilers.
An interesting take on post-apocolyptic (sort of) America, and above all-->how will we treat each other after some major world disruptive event? I think this is what it's really all about.
Lots of twists and turns. Lots of symbolism.
Barack Obama was heavily involved in the making of this movie. While "right wingers" are apt to hate this movie, interestingly enough (for an Obama film) the stereotypical right wing conspiratorial survivalist character comes out as by-far the most useful person that others have to go to when desperate for help. This "real man" is contrasted with the nearly useless urbane men who are much wealthier than him.
There's lots of BLM type (not so) secret Easter Eggs--some are obvious, some you probably won't catch. Some YouTubers have even spotted some semi-hidden devilish/evil symbolism.
