Leander vs Pflugerville (Okafor)

HS Game

Rain messed this one up for me (long delay) - only able to catch about one half. Both teams surprised me with the # of quality athletes. Pflugerville had more athletes, but they made more mistakes and lost. Okafor usually got by his guy easily but Leander ran many screens taking him out of the play in many cases. Good frame - looking forward to see him get under Coach Boom. Pflugerville's kicker impressed me with a kick-off through the goal posts with little to no wind (from his own 40).

Coach Gideon is 8-1 in 9 years vs Pflugerville. No other coach can claim a winning record against Pville over the last 9 years, let alone ownage like that.

No joke. Leander has the athletes to be competitive with P-Ville and the coach to put it all together. Some other schools have the athletes or the coach but Leander is the only one who has both recently.

went to the Pflugerville vs. Round Rock game on Friday. I was filming on the sideline and I mainly focused on Okafor. Let me say this: He is HUGE. When I first saw him warming up I assumed his DE opposite him was pretty undersized. That was until I got up next to him (name is IK Enkampali and I'm not sure who is recruiting him) and the kid is 6'3" 230. That aint to shabby for a HS DE who looked like he ran a 4.55. And this is just PHS's OTHER DE. Okafor truly appeared to be a man among boys, he looked a legit 6'5-6-6", 240 lbs. He definitely passes the eyeball test. However, I will say this about Okafor: If his season continues to play out like his last game did, then there is a chance that he may drop in the rankings based on a lack of in-depth analysis. From what I remember Alex had about 3 tackles, 1TFL, 2 QB pressures, 1 pass def, and 150 double teams. The guy had no stats because Round Rock made it clear from the get-go that they had no intentions of running plays toward Okafor, and every intention of double and triple-teaming him on every play. Pflugerville has a very big, very athletic, and very fast defense. Apparently they have 9 returners from their D last year that went to state, and Texas5Afootball.com ranks their D-Line #2 in the state behind only Lufkin. They forced 5 turnovers that I remember, and returned one for a TD. Okafor looks like a beast, and I can't wait to get Mad Dog on him. As for their offense, apparently it's all sophomores, they only return their Center from last year, so they have some athletes but are a young team, probably too young to make another big run. But I reccomend checking out a Pflugerville game since it should be pretty easy to do for some of you who are either alums or have kids who go to/play for Westlake, Bowie, Austin, or any of the other teams that are now in the same district. I'm sure you will be as pumped as I am. Now I just need to get out to a Lake Travis game....

I go to Pflugerville, go to every football game, and alot of the players are friends of mine. I can tell you that Alex Okafor is 6'6'', and that this past game vs. Round Rock, wasone of the worst he has played since his Soph. year. Come to a game like vs. Bowie or Austin high, and I garuntee you he will step it up. He seems to play his best against the best teams, at the most important times. Also, Tyrus Thompson is a starting DT for Pville, only a junior, but he is getting looked at by UT, and really likes them, one of his top 3, his other top 2 are Okie. St. and A&M. Just a little insight for you guys.

Hey, if you guys really want to see Alex Okafor at his best, go to Westlake Stadium this friday at 7:30. Pville will play Westlake, obviously, and I can guarantee Okafor will have an awesome game.
