Leake Done?

I guess we'll see Friday..

I don't know if I buy the tendonitis excuse, but Leake has definitely been overworked. He has not looked like the dominant, 1.36 ERA Mike Leake in weeks, and Murphy acknolwedged on Wednesday that he probably threw too many innings during the regular season and just doesn't have the arm strength anymore.

Bush league. That's the kind of overuse/abuse you see in little league and high school. Murphy needs to be strung up by his elbows.

Austin Wood threw 169 pitches in one game. That is rarely going to ruin an arm.

Mike Leake has been overworked all season long. The guy threw 7 complete games this year, and the games where he didn't go the distance, he frequently threw 8 innings. That is what you call overuse.

Another example from Murphy? Josh Spence threw 121 pitches on Sunday and came back on 3 days rest to throw 127 last night. That is WAY worse than Austin Wood throwing 169 in one game. But you won't hear the media ripping Murphy apart the way they did Augie.

In one game, that might be valid, but over the course of an entire season, throwing that many complete games and that many innings is a good indicator of overuse.

For the record, I think Chance Ruffin is starting to show signs of overuse, too. But we haven't ridden him as much as ASU has ridden Leake.

I love Murphy to death but he's not to be trusted on anything he says.

He's been known to lift a kid after being listed in the starting line-up for a pinch hitter in the first.

The most notable case came to mind during the college world series where the kid introduced in the starting line-up was in street clothes(and crutches)

He also did it against Washington.

Pat Murphy is the real deal.

Looks like Leake is pitching tonight after all. During the LSU game, Oral was talking about how great he is and how he is scheduled to pitch tonight. Oral was so excited to see what he can do when he get's his arm angle right tonight and is really looking forward to watching him pitch.
Too bad they weren't watching the game after Texas came back, he may have been more excited to see if Jungmann comes back into the game.

I wish one of these days someone would just say that their guy got hit by a car or something on the way to practice.

If a player had an injury that was making him doubtful you'd hear zero from any coach about it.

Not just a rumor. He said a lot of things, including that he would put Leake's future ahead of everything else in making this decision. Riiiight.

Not trying to jinx the baseball gods or anything....but this seems like a really dumb decision. Yes, of course, he could have a great night, but it just seems like it's more likely we will get to him even if it's late.

I think that's what Murphy meant, he just didn't want to come out and say that there was an extra loss tucked in there. (Excuse me, no-decision, which as we know, is like five losses to a mortal pitcher.)

Murphy was hedging his bets in case Leake got shelled again. He entered the game with a built-in excuse. The guy may be the real deal, but he comes across like a Grade A Jackass.
