LCD monitors

I'm looking to replace my 20" CRT (the right hand side has some darker spots, and the brightness is terrible now). I was thinking about a 19" LCD, but I want to make sure that whatever I get this time can reproduce my colors accurately (I use my computer for 3 main things - email, surfing, and working with digital photos.) I'm not full blown graphic artist or professional digital photographer, but I'm advancing my amateur status and I want my prints to look like what I see on my monitor.

I found a ProView (made by Xerox) at Staples on sale this week for 290 (Proview PL 913s), but I dont want to jump on the wrong monitor just because of a deal... Any suggestions?

If you're looking for a 19 inch LCD, the Dell 1905 is an excellent monitor. It has fast response times and what passes for full color reproduction on an LCD, which is pretty good except at the extremes of black. The problem is that the price fluctuates between the mid 300 and mid 500 range.

Dell had that puppy on sale this week for 369. If you check outThe Link , most of that stuff pops up there. If the Proview handled color repro well, I'd be all about it. It has a 16ms refresh rate which isn't bad, but it's viewing angle is 140 and it doesn't have a DVI input (which isn't important to me at all, presently).

I may end up just watching the Dell and waiting to see what happens.
