I've had my Dell 17" Widescreen LCD TV/Monitor (W1700 is the model) and it would be hard for someone to convince me to use anything else now. I've had Dell standard size 15" and 17" LCDs, but this thing is great. Has a component input, composite input, S-video input, DVI, VGA... You can work on the computer and watch any of the inputs in PIP. I plugged my HD satellite receiver in just to see what it would look like and it is great. I first got it just because my bedroom TV took up so much room and I just wanted a little more space. Now I don't miss my regular TV at all. I am even surprised by the built in speakers. They sound pretty good. The thing isn't that much more than most standard LCD monitors (sometimes cheaper), almost always cheaper than the smaller LCD TVs and it is both of them in one.
Samsungs are known to be great. Dell uses their panels on some of their LCD sets. Mine is a Samsung 172x. It's 17" and a bit pricey, but it has been rather nice the last 2-3 months I've owned it.
Dells are good, but be careful when buying them because many of their LCD's have really poor response time ratings. This is because they cater to business customers and response time is pretty much a non-issue in a business environment. Of course games and video are a different story.
