Lay Sod Over French Drain Field?

I am going to run a french drain trench to collect water and take it out to the street, but I just heard that you are not supposed to lay sod on top of all that sand for some reason and now I am worried because I don't want some long streak of sand across my yard.

Can I lay sod on top to cover it up once I am finished?? If I don't, can I just let the existing St. Augustine grow over the area and reestablish itself?

Woo,

On our homes, we cover the lines but make sure the drain itself is clear of grass. The Drains are usually in a low inside corner of a homes foundation or in a low spot in the yard. Landscaping can usually hide the drain in the middle of a yard.
