lax to downtown la..best way

noticed i can take a shuttle to the metro from lax and then go to downtown via the rail system.. is this true or do i need to take a cab??

I have always taken a cab that utilizes the HOV lane and it seemed to be pretty quick. I was on business, so I didn't worry about the cost. Never tried the rail system

3) Hassle Free?

Cheapest is shuttle to the rail.

Fastest is taxi.

Hassle Free is taxi.

SuperShuttle is a happy medium.

There is another company there at LAX as well (I can't remember the name) that has Red & White vans.

I think that when you come out of the airport you just look for SHARED RIDE SHUTTLE (or Shared Ride Van) or something. There are guys or girls with clipboards & walkie-talkies standing on the islands (the section between the pick-up lanes and the through traffic) looking at the on-coming through traffic for the next vans.

These vans go to a specific neighborhood:

-Downtown
-Disneyland
-Hollywood
-Santa Monica
-Burbank...

And you get on one and ride to your neighborhood. You could be the first stop, you could be the 5th stop, but they are all very close to each other. You also often wait 5 to 15 minutes, but if you are going DOWNTOWN, then your wait will most likely be on the short side AND the drop-off areas will be within blocks of each other.

i cannot stress how much i hate riding in cabs in LA. i hate hate hate hate hate it. they are really grimey old cabs and the drivers always seem a little shady and for some reason have no clue where anything is. i honestly get depressed when i can't use flyaway and have to take a cab from my house to lax.

to the OP i would take the flyaway to union station and then take a cab to wherever you need to go from there. i think it will save you a good deal of $.
