Although it is certainly too late in the season to qualify for a redshirt, I have to wonder (and hope) if watching from what amounts to a coaches vantage point through both practice and games (into the tourney) will help her take the next step forward next season...
Best wishes on the rehab...as with all of the others through the years, do NOT rush the rehab...the risks do NOT outweigh the rewards.
Horrible to hear. What I have read re Sims is that recovery is about six months so there's a chance she will be ready for next season. But, as others said, no need to rush to get her back before she is ready.
Get well, Lauren. Our prayers for a full recovery will be with you.
I'm so sorry for Lauren. What an awful test for a young athlete to face. Will she find the focus to work as hard to rehab as she has worked to be a player? Here's to your personal journey, Lauren. I wish you all the best.
Tough news for Lauren, and the team. And, with the injury occurring so late in the season, the rehab will most likely extend into the 2010-11 season, which could mean a return won't be likely until the latter half of the season; of course, everyone heals differently.
Just another reason why I don't agree with Coach G's philosophy on having a "small" roster. We have 15 scholarships to award per year, and depth is so important as injuries are so prevalent . . .
i think everybody bounces back differently. i've torn my ACL twice and was back within 6 months each time. just depends on how much additional damage, if any, is done to the knee. meniscus tears in addition to the ACL tear can make the rehab process more lengthy and difficult.
and obviously the mental aspect plays a role in the rehab process, as well. the knee might be healed completely and stronger than it was before....but it's still tough to get out there and play at the same speed and intensity. some players never get past that.
