Lauren Flores dismissed from team

I know I sound like a broken record, but this is another type of situation where not using our allotted 15 scholarships really comes back to bite us . . .

Do you know something, Babhorn, or just wishful thinking? You can't just get in on players this late if you haven't been recruiting them for a while . . .

Im really start to question Coach GG. Not saying that Laren didnt deserve to be kicked off but like someone said- the hits just keep coming. First Kristian Nash says she'll be back then she ups and changes her mind. She never probaly forgot when GaiL jacked her up by the collar last year or the year before. Then Demoss leaves. Seems like things are only looking worse for the Longhorns. If things arent turned around in two more years then ..................!

Other than Lauren's dismissal, nothing really out of the ordinary. Coach DeMoss leaving was unexpected to fans. Kristen decided to move on with her life after graduating instead of coming back for another year, same type of decision that Carla made last season. I think the initial decision was influenced by wanting to play with her sister for four years. She seemed to have reconsidered after a while. That kind of stuff happens everywhere.

To me, the biggest concern is the size of the roster. I know Coach G likes a short roster but I think this is a bit too short even for her. Looking at the ESPN top 100, only Shoni Schimmel, PG, is left unsigned. Luckily, I guess,

losing Lauren is from a spot where we have several players. Both Ashleigh and Lauren have played PG and the three wings coming in could play the point in a pinch, imo. Still, I don't like sudden change and have to wonder if any of the three are connected. No facts, rumor or anything to make that connection. Just that I deal in possibilities so that does occur to me.

We really need some good news. I'm hoping for a great hire when it happens.

I agree that the short roster is the biggest concern but that's a spearate issue, and obviously can't be a consideration when it comes to rules or conduct. I have no clue what happened but anytime a coach like Goestenkors or Vanderveer actually dismisses a player it's a safe bet the action was justified.

Hmmm.... I can't say I'm surprised. In fact, I've been thinking something like this might happen, hoping that it wouldn't. Lauren posted on her twitter page back in March, "I feel like school aint for me" So, now she is dismissed on the first day following the end of classes.

Yeah, I realize these latest occurrences aren't related. Most of the time, any official release from the school is pretty vague stating only that " XX player has decided to transfer". When a coach goes on record that a player is being "dismissed" and not "suspended", you know something is up. Since it's the offseason, and Lauren is recovering from surgery, you have to imagine it is not basketball-related, but something like academics, personal conduct off the court, etc.

I was really hoping to see Lauren demonstrate the three-point shooting that won her a few contests, but that's not gonna happen here.

We'll see if she ends up at TCU like most in-state transfers . . .

Of course even with Lauren's dismissal we will still have the exact same roster size as this season....and with half the squad as freshmen and just one senior it ought to be exciting!
