but obama has a plan. it has no specifics, no guts to it, be he dreamed it up, you know 900,000 new natural gas jobs. Nobody including obama has any idea where they will come from, but since he said he wanted it to happen it must be true. Nevermind that if he could actually deliver, why hasn't he by now? Oh, and wouldn't that Keystone XL pipeline he refuses to approve have helped? Nah.
 
The reason that both candidates have empty plans is because were they to dare present one they would be hammered at the polls by us, the voters. We penalize them electorally for taking hard positions and for telling us the truth. We absolutely refuse to raise taxes to pay for the government that we demand. The ones who promise the most get re-elected and so platitudes abound.

Walter Mondale proved this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Mondale said (paraphrasing) "He's going to raise your taxes (Reagan) and I will, too. The difference being that I'm telling you about it now, in advance." Reagan gave us "Morning in America" and won in a landslide.

Two years later, Reagan signed what was the biggest tax increase in U.S. history.

We demand our cake and want to eat it, too, then complain when the politicians do exactly what we elect them to do. We wanted the war in Iraq (at the time) but we would only do it if it was going to be cheap. So it was sold to us as a war that would pay for itself. Had you told us in advance that it would end up costing trillions of dollars, not to many would have favored it.
 
What year was the "summer of recovery" Biden was speaking of? Whre did it go? Where are the jobs? Why are so many people quitting looking for a job ?

Some recovery. I don't want four more years of ANYTHING like the last four.
 
I'd settle for any of the 4 years other than the last 4, myself.

Bigger problem still, I don't see path nor promise of improvement under this administration.
 
Do you know what the tax increase was for in the 1980's? Do you know who wanted and negotiated it? Do you even have a clue.

You have been asked time and time again about your wanting to increase taxes and how much revenue it is going to produce, yet you remain silent. The tax increase you advocate and Democrats are advocating is for a total of $81 Billion dollars over 10 ******* YEARS!!!! Let's take 10 billion dollars away from people that invest it and give it to the government to piss away. THAT IS THE STUPIDEST IDEA ANYONE IN THE WORLD HAS EVER COME UP WITH!!!!!!
 
BI. do you just listen to msnbc and repeat? The Dems have said for so long that the last 8 years of Bush was a disaster. This is what we were at early 2007.

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

How in the hell could we be in this good of shape after 9-11 and two wars just 6 or 7 years after being elected? Where was the disaster of all the 8 years of Bush? Is it just a coincidence that everything was great dispite 9-11 and the two wars until two guys named Frank and Dodd took over the housing and banking and then along with that the Dems took over the house and senate?
 
Bush tried to contain the damage after it was too late. The FBI had warned of a pending disaster. Bush, no doubt listening to his handlers and financial lobbyists, had totally defanged all regulatory enforcement. There was literally nobody watching out for the public. Fannie Mae was (is) totally corrupt, and the politicians of both stripes were in bed with them. Hell, Barney Frank may have literally been in bed with them.
