wife and i are going p there. plans to work on dad's old house have fallen through.

thus, we will be going shopping. actually cool, because until last year, when my dad died, and my mom mover to ****** houston, me and wife hanging around northpark and galleria was always cool.

it feels weird to not be in dallas ever for holidays.

anyway, I need a hotel for tomorrow night and a good dinner suggestion. one home run meal. price does not matter.

not sure if we will hit both malls on saturday, or leave one for sunday. either way, the westin galleria has rooms at a decent rate. ZaZa is booked. Just tell me where to stay for this kind of deal.

*any other ideas for **** to do, etc are welcome.

don't know if you can get it, but if you can, eat at the new dean fearing restaurant at the ritz carlton. if you can't get in there, try abacus.

as for hotels, you know most of them and what you'd like. the westin is decent. ritz is open now. the mansion just re-did their restaurant and bar.

Agree on Fearings. Abacus and Stephen Pyles are both very good too.

Skip Hibiscus. Overrated.

Steel is also excellent. Very cool physical plant and decor. Good scene. Excellent Sushi.

We had dinner at N9NE Steakhouse a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty damn good (bone-in Ribeye and Lobster Mashed potatoes). Ambiance was cool, a little more hip than your average dark panel steakhouse. A good choice if you're looking for something a bit different.

It's in Victory Park. Even if you don't end up eating there a walk through that area is worth the look.

just booked melrose hotel. corner king room. decent rate.

now to choose dinner. pyle's looks cool. tempted by al biernat's. craft not looking bad either.

If you're looking for some great italian and want to try something other than the standard Campisi's then I would highly recommend Patrizio's in Highland Park Village. The place gets a little bit crowded on the weekends but even if you go during peak hours you won't have to wait longer than 20 minutes since it's just the two of yall.

It's just about the best meal I've ever had in Dallas. There's also some really upscale boutiques in this same center that I'm sure your wife would enjoy.

Stephen Pyles is excellent and will continue to be so until he loses interest in the place in about two years. You really can't go wrong there, and I have a difficult time recommending anything else over it.

Steel is right around the corner from your hotel, however. And if you want sushi/ Japanese, then that is about the best in town.

thanks for the tips. I'm finally going to check out al biernat's tonight. Maybe go see some lights on turtle creek.

Say hi to crayon.

Check out Hectors on Henderson. Great food..Good atmoshphere. Been lovin that place lately. The Link

Also..if you need to score some points with the wife..check out whitehaven carriages..they do highland park light tours. I took the gf on this the other day, and now Im pretty sure I have some points in the bank for a future horns roadtrip guys weekend. Enjoy Dallas.

Just seeing this. I hope you got a steak at Al's. My chef buddy that owns Tramontana in Preston Center is the chef that opened Biernat's with Al 10 years ago. It was his menu. According to him, the recipes have slipped a bit since he left after a year or two. But he said the steaks are still wonderful. I hope you got one.
